  1. It was just on the limits mark but it worked really well I much preferred it to the normal GTI mount it tracked for several hours with out much adjustments
  2. Just the usual suspects STU first time I have had them set up side by side
  3. This is the first time I put these two together on the Rowan AZ100 and very pleased with how it handles and looks each time I get the TMB out of its bag I wonder should I sell it or keep it as it’s such a nice scope just as is the Takahashi TSA 120
  4. I had the the 130 EDT and it was a wonderful scope but as I had the TOA 150 at the time I sold the AP I now have the TMB 130ss and would say it is equal in views to the AP
  5. Having used both I’d say the planet is by far the better of the two and to be honest it’s not that much heavier to move around in my option
  6. I’ve owned both HD edge 8 ,11, 14 scopes and regular C8 C9.25 C11 and visually the edge are better
  7. Just to go where my fancy takes me
  8. I would double check as some of these are achromatic not even semi APO and will show colour
  9. They are hard to resist I should know and the views are still breathtaking
  10. My first was a Printz 600 from Dixon’s £99 I was fifteen at the time my summer job paid for it blimey Mike that’s a loverly condition scope and who of thought it would hold it’s value and some
  11. There is a nice used 80 equinox FPL53 on ABS right now for £350 that a good start and you won’t loose any money if it’s not for you
  12. I’ve only looked through the ethos and Myriad but from other reviews I think your comments are correct I was using the 20mm on m42 last night stunning and sharp
  13. I was lucky my local vendor split the rings and dovetail so I only purchased the rings as I already had a nice dovetail the Delos are nice the Ethos in my opinion not worth there price now even second hand there nearly £500 a piece that more than some Sellars paid for them I’ve got the 13mm nice it is but not a massive jump from the 14mm Delos it upgraded I have the Myriad 100° 20-9-5-3.5mm and I think there almost as good as the ethos
  14. Nice report Mark I think you would notice a big difference in a darker site it’s much like all large optic scopes even refractors suffer from poor seeing having owned quite a few large 6 inch APOs including the TOA 150 the optics on my 150 are not to far behind and I would say better than the two 120equinox I owned and they were very good I was surprised by the blackness of the field of view and the sparkle of the stars very Tack like the other night it had no problem resolving the trapeze in M42 and the double clusters looked jewel like I agree the focuser is a bit of a let down but adequate I’m just used to much more robust ones I would rather of seen the option as in the USA of the upgraded one for a few extra pounds but I was told by the vendor the latest model had a few tweaks on the focuser I like you got it at the pre crisis price it is a lot of scope for the money my only gripe was the tube rings which I think are not man enough for this scope and I upgraded those before letting it loose outside
  15. Mine is the latest which I was told by Simon from wide screen that had been slightly modified from original and its adequate really just not what I’m used to on the premium scopes I may upgrade to a Moonlite
  16. Due to work weather and health issues I have finally made it out with my Skywatcher 150ED which i purchased before Xmas and a re ent acquisition my Takahashi sky90 II the 150 ED is a reasonable OTA to handle just it’s length that makes it a bit awkward so plenty of turn around space needed when transporting it to the mount once there though balance is achieved quite easily and unlike some of the 150s I have owned it’s not to front heavy it was a fairly transparent evening after the clouds had rolled by and the seeing around a 5 first look at the moon wow nearly blinded me forgot how bright the full moon in a 6 inch can be I popped in my 13mm ethos and the view was excellent I could see no noticeable colour in focus or CA at all which I was pleased about I quickly done a star test and was delighted to see perfect rings in and out of focus the trapezium in m42 was easily resolved and some nice gassing still showing despite the moons glow Mars showed small amount of markings and a cap with the new acquired Myriad 5mm the optics on this scope I’m pleased to say are excellent for the price I would say a step above the the 2 vixen Atlux I’ve owned a much crisper image the Sky background is nice and dark with pinpoint stars very Takahashi like it does split the doubles with great ease based a first light in not perfect conditions I’m very pleased . The Takahashi Sky 90 II was purchased as a grab and go scope I read a few reviews before taking the plunge and purchased this nicely kept example first port of call star test as with the 150ED I was nervous and hoping all would be fine and my fears were soon quashed as a perfect star test rings appeared through the 3.5mm eyepiece little colour shown either side of focus but none in focus on to the moon with a 19mm Panoptics and a beautiful disc appeared as crisp as the FS102 I previously owned then on to M42 again trapezium easily resolved star fields look fantastic through this scope and my fears it would not live up to my Takahashi expectations were soon forgotten so after 3 hours it was time to pack up and I’m looking forward to more time with this scope .
  17. I was lucky 365 astronomy had them in stock all the usual places were out of stock and no more on the horizon I brought the 20mm from them 18 months ago hoping to try them out tonight set up waiting
  18. Takes me back I had a set like this few years back nice grab and go
  19. Hi John yes your review made my decision when I purchased my first one I have a 13 Ethos and there is not that much in it between it and the Myriads I just think now the prices are out of Controll for the Ethos as is the used market in general at the moment
