My Current Dob is out side under a 365 supplied by FLO with scope and recommend I will obviously bring it in in the very bad weather but that’s just me it’s designed for harsh weather. -

I to had A Sumerian 14” ultra light with Zambuto Quartz optics the build was very good and it was very light weight it did struggle with two things large heavy eyepieces like Ethos and the mirror sling made collimating very hit and miss also the flex in the truss poles made the issue problematic the Quartz mirror did cool down slightly quicker than previous Pyrex I had but that’s really due to the thickness As Piero says about the coma and use of Paracorr I have one for my now F4 but found it not necessary on the Zambuto -

Thanks Knobby it’s clouded over here typically -
This fantastic scope was delivered by Grant from FLO few weeks ago before I went away on my holidays ive just got round to assembling it I must say it is a reasonable easy set up I managed on my own it would have been slightly better with two but it’s manageable on my own as it’s going to be semi permanent ie under a Tele gizmos 365 cover the build quality is quite good and probably one of the best stable Dobsonion scopes I’ve had it feels very secure and rigid the motor drives surprised me by being fairly quite and smooth in both Axis my GPS skywatcher mouse works as well so that’s a bonus collimating is very straightforward and made easy so now I wait for some clear nights to give this bad boy a run out

I’m afraid that’s not possible as he’s had his Bobs Knobs removed and unable to collimate ?

In the market for a dobson
garryblueboy replied to Piero's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
Hi Piero I’ve never come across any of the concerns you mentioned above with my Sumarian colimation holds really well and takes only minutes as for the dew with the shroud fitted its the same as any if not slightly better airflow with the two fans below the primary it works so well movement on theese scopes is a dream and they are very stable -
A wise decision I’ve met Richard he’s a genuine guy and that scope in my opinion is the best value all round I don’t bother hiding I just suffer the looks and do you really need another scope good luck with 102 I’m sure you will be pleased and happy you chose it the focuser is the best part of the deal they are the best over priced but the Televue of Focusers ??
-
I think the point here is the focuser is top quality around £450 so a total of £600 including the scope is still a fair price for the quality no mater how old I paid over three times that for a 25 year old scope so age is no guide to quality having owned several of AA scopes including a TS 130 APO with 3.5 inch focuser there focuses are not on the same park as the feather touch and there’s a lot to be said of a quality focuser on a 4 inch at high mag just my pennies worth I know where I’d put my money
