Thanks Charl. Looks like the same issue but I suspect the HD is on the way out as the root cause. Not sure what to do now!

get another hd thay only take a few minutes to fit + a hour or so to put your programes on and other stuff, i keep all my astro stuff on a 2tb portable harddrive and thats backed up on another hd just to be on the safe side. hope you get it sorted soon .charl.

  6. What a frustrating afternoon trying to image the Sun through "sucker holes". Almost wish I had been at work!

that bad mate, much the same for me thismorning,i ended up deleting 80% of frames. yer mate i like our focusers,i brought after reading your review, it worked straight outa the box, fitted it in 5min, put the laser on it and it was spot on center, thay have a nice movement, and not too pricey. hope it clears for you. charl.

  7. Spent the morning with my scope pointed at the clouds :angry7:

  8. Bacon sandwich with lashings of brown sauce to distract me from the clouds :D

    1. romx

      romx

Bacon sandwich does sound really good, minus the brown sauce though. I will substitute the brown sauce for sausages

      Hmm, the healthy option!

  9. Seems an odd thing to say as the current 17.3 was only released end of last year!
  10. @GinaLooks like it might work in wine or maybe this?
  11. The other issue I have preventing me from moving fully to Linux Mint is mosaics. At the moment I use AutoStitch 64 bit for pretty much all of my mosaics (occasionally MSICE) and I cannot get this to work under wine. Now my Mint install is 32 bit but Autostitch 32 bit would not work so I am assuming 64 bit AutoStitch will not work on Mint 17.2 64 bit either? I have tried a couple of Linux alternatives and to be honest they don’t even come close. Any suggestions on this front would be hugely appreciated.
  12. Great thread, very informative. I use Linux Mint 17.2 on my desktop for processing including:- Registax (via Wine) PIPP SER Player GIMP2.8 GIMP2.9 (via Wine) Tilting Sun (via Wine) AS!2 (via Wine) Edit: ImPPG Edit: ImageMajick - (Brilliant for putting animations together with one command line!) I also use Stellarium & Carte du Ciel All of the above run really well on this distro and I find Mint more stable and user friendly than Ubuntu. I have tried OACapture on this machine and seems to work well. My laptop is Win 10 which annoys me immensely; really want to move to capturing in Mint as well, just not brave enough to do away with my only Windows machine only to find there is something that doesn't work! Must look at dual booting again as I have not really looked at this since UEFI muddied the waters for me.

  17. First Rate Optics! Contacted FLO about an item from a manufacturer for which they are an authorised distributor but the item was not on their website. Had an email back from Martin the next morning saying they would order it in for me and would contact me once it arrived. Had another email a couple of days later saying it had arrived and was cheaper than previously quoted - bonus. Placed the order Thursday morning and it was delivered next day. Thanks Martin, thanks FLO. Always a pleasure doing business with you.
