  1. Wow, awesome "surface" details. Not my choice of colours (looks sort of pink-ish on my screen) but that's just me.
  2. Nice image. For me this is why wedges are safer, I have never forgotten to put the wedge in and there is no danger of it coming adrift and leaving my eye in the "firing line". Scorched the inside of my focuser cap many a time when using front-mounted white light filters.
  3. Early morning session followed by a busy day hence posting rather late. Just a single spot in white light and some small proms in Ca-K
  4. Lovely disks Steve. I hope to get some imaging in tomorrow morning......
  5. Nice catch Charl. A couple of small spots visible in white light (just west of centre) when I looked this evening. Hopefully get chance to image in the morning.
  6. Nice disks Steve. Looking back my last image was the 18th May!
  7. Spent some time with the Evostar, Lacerta wedge and the 7-21 zoom. You're right, focus is critical, I have the upgraded 10:1 focuser on this scope and even the smallest move with the fine focus is the difference between seeing and not seeing granulation. The seeing dropped off quite a lot during the course of my session but there were moments of awesome clarity with outstanding views. I love a good spot group but I can find a surprising amount of excitement in a clean white light disk!
  8. Nothing going on in white light and pretty much the same in Ca-K but it's been a while since I did some solar and I felt the need! There was a very small dim prom but neither of my captures really worked.
  9. I do the same and they are always flat. Buy lots of spares has been my best solution so far!
  10. Enough with the clouds and rain already!

lm sat waiting for a hole in it to get the moon, darn weather eh. charl.

  11. NIce. I thought about getting the Ca-K rig up but then it rained and I changed my mind.
  12. I like this idea, much more flexible than the original Quark. I could utilise my Evostar scope with a 2x telecentric barlow to get to F/16ish or stop it down to around 60mm to get the same effect but much wider field of view 🤔
  13. Good to see you back on the case John. Not lost your touch either.
  14. An ST102 and Lunt wedge will make an excellent combo for white light solar observing. You might want to add a solar continuum filter as this brings out the detail nicely. I've had some success in the past using #56 and / or #58 colour filters but then found the continuum takes things to a new level and have never gone back. The Sun is approaching solar minimum at the moment so spots are few and fairly far between but we do get outbursts of occasional activity. On a good day you will want to have eyepieces available that get you to 100x and it's worth having a cloth / towel or something to put over your head, sounds daft but helps me pick up fine detail when the surroundings are shut out.
  15. Nice work Charl. All clouds and showers here before I left for work this morning so no Sun for me. Getting withdrawal symptoms now.....
  16. Not in my experience. I can reach focus with my DSLR plugged into the Lacerta 1.25" wedge but not so with the Lunt 90° version.
  17. Nothing doing in white light and (almost) nothing going on in Ca-K too, just that small bright spot at lower left. Still clear blue skies and very warm this morning, couldn't not image really
  18. Quick session this morning before work. Not a lot to see to be fair, nothing doing in white light but a nice prom on show in Ca-K. I was quite surprised the full disk mosaic stitched as there is very little for Autostitch to work with really.
