I enjoyed again the tracking of  lunik2 to the Moon, seen in your link above.

but only when Lovell had finished playing his Cricket match did he 

go to Jodrell Bank to oversee that  first man made impacter on the moon

for the Russians

 Curiously enough the programme following this is called 'Orion-The man who would be King'

  Nothing to do with astronomy ,however.

  It's about a masked singer, 'Orion'-who was supposedly Elvis resurrected!      or   or  ?

   Sounds wacky enough to watch!

Yes, it was very interesting, I wondered what had happened to James Burke.

I was disappointed at the lack of any depth of scientific or technical content.

It was really a history programme I suppose, made by the Beeb Arts graduates again.

Much talk of 'contraptions' and tangles of wire......sheesh!

I more or less expected it to be a history program, but there again I'm an Arts graduate lol!

Watched it on the iPlayer last night and found it very worthwhile. 

Sir Bernard must have had a real presence to persuade the powers that be to invest what was at the time a lot of money on a project that was quite speculative.
