8) Polar alignment is adjustable by the use of two stepper motors, painstakingly adapted to allow fine polar alignment adjustments even via remote control (Optional Kit).

OH this looks brill.

WOW!!!  That's very interesting :)  Wonder how much it costs :D  I like the M-Uno mount too - that is priced (nearly 4 grand!)  I see it uses timing belt drive as I was thinking of for a home made mount :D

This is something I thought of implementing on my remote observatory.

Here's a link to a DIY version of it:

Curious too about the price, it does look like a complete package.

Going to enquire about it.

The Merlino roof design is similar to one I've seen in wood where two roof sections are attached to bars and counterbalanced on axles such that they can be opened and hinge down to the sides of the observatory.   The Merlino would seem to be a rather more elegant aluminium version :)  This gives me an idea for a neater mini observatory for my widefield imaging system :D

When you look at the design of it and the features, it almost feels like they have been looking at quite a lot of forums and gathered some great ideas to make a compact remote observatory.

Hopefully they will reply to my email.

I have seen it in the flesh last September.

It is beautifully designed and functional but as you would expect expensive.

You would have to purchase his especially designed mount and OTA if you want a reasonable sized aperture scope in it.

I'm betting on around £12-17k inc mount but no scope

I'm unsure about all the electronics for polar alignment.  It weighs around 120kg so not exactly portable and surely the polar alignment is a one time job rather than something that needs tweaking remotely?  Maybe I'm missing something?

cheers

Nick
