Hi all.

I live in the northern Scottish Highlands, and have been interested in astronomy for almost all of my 39 years. Not owned a scope for many, many years, but am planning on putting that right later in the year.

Welcome to SGL. In the mean time while your scopeless, enjoy gazing at those gorgeous dark skies you have up there. Bet its harder to distinguish the constellations tho lol

Funnily enough, I was out camping in the mountains at the weekend - no lights anywhere for miles around, cold air and clear skies. Even Orion was nearly lost in the clutter of stars. Been enjoying the Northern Lights a few times this month, too. Plenty to look at until I get my scope, and I always have my Mk Is and some binoculars to fall back on.

Hi Liana or is Lianachan or Chan

I believe in Japan "chan" can used as a kind of diminutive suffix, usually on female names - but for me it's just Lianachan, a male Highlander. It's a placename.
