Supernova Sn2011b and Galaxy Ngc2655 in Camelopardalis

I saw the Supernova last night with the 12". I was surprised at how bright it was. Thanks to whoever flagged it up on this forum.

Forgot to say, there was good separation and clarity between the galaxy's core and the supernova in the 10mm eyepiece.

Chris it all depends on your light pollution, as even though the supernova is bright and detectable in your scope it's the faint fuzzy galaxy that confirms it.

A good map and star hopping skills are pretty essential.

Or as Tim did cheat and use a go-to ;)
