Hello everyone,

I found this site trying to figure out what telescope I should start with, and now I have a list of parts and no telescope! I like the buy-once, cry-once method, so I'll be collecting parts over the next few years. I plan on building my own mount after a lot of research, as well as ending up with a setup for DSO. I'll be lurking more than posting since I know nothing, but wanted to say thank you for all your contributions/knowledge. This would be a tough hobby to get into deep without you.

Clear skies,

Bullnettles

Welcome aboard SGL Bullnettles. Good to have you with us.

Thanks for introducing yourself, and you're more than welcome to lurk of course, but don't forget there's no such think as a daft question on here. So if you get stuck with anything or want to share your thoughts, feel free to get involved. Many of the problems you might face with telescopes have likely been also tackled by someone else on here.

Thank you all, and I will try to solve my issues before muddling the water with another thread. I have lots of time and realized I have a starting point in my closet. I have a miniPC from a buddy that I can begin prepping to control the D5000 I'll be purchasing, as well as building a battery box/distribution for 12v. Seems the power packs are good, but if you're running a comp, GEM, and eventually a camera and dew heater, I'm thinking future-proofing is the way to go. I'm very excited to have a year's long rabbit hole to dive into; thanks again for the warm welcome.
