ARs warts and all

Set up all day yesterday and only managed 2 dodgy vid's, wouldn't normally inflict these on your sensitive eyes but amazed that AS and imppg could make anything out of them seeing the "quality" graphs.

Amazing.

I've had 'better' graphs than that and not had anywhere near a good a result.

Is there an idiot's guide to those graphs. I've seen mention of them in places, but never understood what they are conveying.

What does the green line mean on the graph?

Indicates the quality, or lack thereof, of the frames in order from left to right, hopefully at least 50% would be above the centre line.

Just gives an indication of quality of the frames captured, lot's of other parameters to affect stuff though, equipment resolution, ratio of number of frames captured to number processed, lots of trial and error usually.

Here's the unprocessed image

You managed to pull something decent out Dave given the conditions.

Don’t forget this is just a quality graph of the frames in that particular AVI relative to each other and is not a guide of absolute quality.

Great to learn so much here.  So one will be 100% and the others compared against this?

Presumably the best frame is selected to measure the others against using some sort of signal to noise algorithm, but one days best frame may be worse than another days best frame so as Freddie said not an indication of absolute quality.

sometimes we just have to take whatever we can get .... better than nothing and there's still a lot of detail in that first image
