It can be done. This thread is about making a lower cost diy wifi adapter for sw eq mounts which has the same functionality as the skywatchers official product, the wifi dongle.

In my opening post I present such a solution which requires no programming skills, while during the last posts some other members posted their efforts going different routes with hardware that needs programming, for which I would had prefered to be in separate threads to avoid confusion.

Anyway, if you built a diy wifi adapter, it will have the same functionality of Skywatcher's wifi dongle. So you can control your mount through:

a PC utilizing either eqmod or SW synscan app pro for windows

Or

a mobile phone utilizing SW synscan pro app, standalone or in conjunction with skysafari
