Still Chasing Mars!

Yes, it's getting smaller, less bright and showing more phase but Mars is still a sight to behold. I took this image with the usual set up of my Big Mak (180mm), 2X barlow and Orion 5MP Solar System Camera, processed in Registax and Photoshop. Syrtis Major, the Hellas Basin and the south polar cap were easily visible in the EP:

Nice work.. that phase is definitely getting smaller.. so slose to half mars.... last quarter mars? ?

That's very nice. The very obvious phase more than makes up for loss of surface detail. Even so it shows more than I saw of it in my 10x50's last night!

Thanks, Rob. I plan on imaging Mars until December, and after then it will be primarily visual until the next opposition!

Great detail. I found it difficult capturing Mars with my SCT. I might give it a crack with my refractor!
