Horsehead RGB SW 80ed

Hi all. Having decided to sell my William Optics Star 71, i dusted the cobwebs off my 80 ed. I forgot how good a scope it is, and how easy it is to use.

This is 5.5 hours in 5 minute subs at 0 gain using the Asi 071 cooled to -20

I had to do a large crop as this is shot at f/7 as i stupidly sold my reducer. So ignore the corner stars.

Stacked in APP, processed in APP and PS.

Hope you like.

Richard.

What's not to like, very nice image. I've gone the other way and just got a reducer/flattener, the eggy stars drove me mad looking at them, I am still not round yet got to get guiding up and running but now the clouds are having a say.

Thank you too Alan. I will be getting a non reducing flattener for this as i want to keep the 600mm focal length. My next scope will have 430mm so 510 would be too close.

Good luck with your guiding.

Top class Richard. Brilliant little scopes.

Thanks Tooth. My only gripe with it is when i lock down the focuser it shifts the focus slightly. I assume there's an upgrade available.

Ignoring the points you raise, this is a super image and reminds us all that the ED80 is a top performing refractor in capable hands.

Lovely image Richard.

Thanks Barry.

Good old ED80! Look at Alnitak, cleanly split - and with Flame structure showing right up to it as well. Very good indeed.

Olly

Thank you too Mr Olly. Good old ED80 indeed.
