Sunshine Posted February 12, 2018 Share Posted February 12, 2018 Just wondering about a sale on solar Max III 70mm single etalon, is it worth an upgrade from a pressure tuned Lunt 60? price is actually lower than what a new Lunt 60 would cost comparable to mine but is the extra 10mm a big deal in solar? From a build quality POV i can't say having never even seen SolarMax in person, they do have an awful lot of gold on them which i could certainly do without, any thoughts? spaceboy Posted February 18, 2018 Share Posted February 18, 2018 An advantage you would find with the solar Max III 70mm is that it has an externally mounted etalon so it is possible to remove this out of the equation along with the blocking filter (replace with star diagonal) and use the scope as a traditional refractor.
