The only thing that keeps crossing my mind is it's only a 40mm scope. And it does look a little like a Blue peter job! How good is it actual

I think I'd need to see images taken through it (if indeed thats possible) and look through one before I took the plunge...

Same here - used the same feed. Fan-bl**dy-tastic!!

Ant, the views through the PST are pretty good. You really don't need much more that 40mm. Some of the guys at my AS are in Turkey and I'll get some images from them so you can see.

I screen captured some of the images from the feed, really, really good!

Who's up for a travel to the next one????

Cheers Daz, that would be great!

With the way the weather is going (at least for me) I'm giving this swap serious consideration.

I'd love to go to the next one... When / Where is it?

Where abouts in the world do you work Steve? Isn't it Devon?

What I may do is have a look at the images that Daz is going to sort for me. Then drive down to see you at work - or in the evening. Have a look through one - then sell my kit and take the plunge...

Bit less than that, shipping to the uk would be 30 dollers,

Cannot wait to see what all the fuss is about with the PST i hope it lives up to my expectations, theres many an image taken with the scope around the Net i just wonder how these compare with the Visual Observing with the Telescope?

I can tell you, the views through a PST are really great. I've seen the 40mm and 50mm and both were stunning. Especially for the money. The thing with the Sun is, the amount of light is not a problem. :) Aperture is great, but you only really need it for the Sun for spectrocopy, and since you're only looking at one wavelength (color) of light, you don't need a lot of aperture.

James: MHO is, the visual views through just about any scope, especially a solar scope, will be better than a photo. The eye is very much able to pick out details and ignore such things as turbulence than any photo can. I highly recommend looking through a PST if you have any opportunity or doubts. I'm sure you'll agree. :)

I missed the eclipse, it being the middle of the night here, but I have several friends in Turkey, Libya and Egypt taking pictures. I'm looking forward to their results.
