Sony handycam cx210 for astrophotography?

Just googled the camera to see the spec and reviews and it does get good reviews. The still image resolution is 5.3mp (interpolated from 1.3mp) so still image quality won't be very good. Although Sony claim the video is HDR, it isn't. The camera appears to have no manual exposure control so if the subject is predominantly black then the camera will over expose to compensate  With that out of the way. the only way you will be able to image with the camera will be through an eyepiece (afocal imaging). You will then need to determine a method of attaching the camera (weight @ 3.3kg) to the eyepiece.

Sony claim a more realistic weight of @200g. Someone at cnet doesn't know the difference between pounds and ounces. All the other things stand. The video quality is not true 1080p HDR and video quality is not exceptional according to the reviews. The problem still how to attach the camera to the telescope. Using a mounting bracket like this one should be sufficient to align the camera to the eyepiece. The eyepiece will need to be sufficiently large enough so that the image in camera not vignette or by adjusting the zoom factor on the camera to crop the image.
