hi steve ive just aquired a philips spc900nc webcam unmodded does this count it uses a ccd chip not a cmos regards Pete

Yes, it does. I am guessing that there'll be a number of modified webcams and the 'Other' option was mostly for them.

I just use my point & shoots at the mo. One day I will image tight faint doubles so I will need camera that can image 14th Mag point sources down to <1".

i have seen the light but i feel that a pure astronomical CCD is the way to go as i want to do narrow band imaging and spectroscopy neither of which are done well with a DSLR

plus i like my camera for photography
