M63 - Sunflower Galaxy

I have now had my first night under actually dark skies. 

Normaly I shoot from Malmoe (big city with Copenhagen right next to it) but now

I visited a friend far from Malmoe and was able to capture this.

The image is 40x300s Lum with an ED80 and Atik 314L+ on a HEQ5 guided with a 90mm Mak and QHY5LII.

I am going to capture the RGB from Malmoe as soon as the weather allows me to.

I also tried the Needle Galaxy. This was a test with a C8 that I was able to borrow.

However I wasn´t able to get the guiding to work. Probably because of poor polar alignment.

Hopefully I will be able to mount my stuff on a pier soon and get a more precise polar alignment.

One thing I noticed now is that the background on M63 is abit dark and some of the background galaxies vanished.

I guess it´s a compression thing when I converted it to png.

Is there any method to avoid "destroying" your images when converting them?

a great start on both images. some excellent detail already in the sunflower image.

I have now added some color to it.

Last thing I did this season. 

The exposure now is:

L: 31x300s

RGB: 10x180s, 8x180s, 10x180s

I played around abit with the image just now.

Started with that I was trying to find background galaxies.

Also tested to resize the whole thing (dubble size).

The result was this:

Was kinda supprised that it didn´t fail completly. Just by quite a bit.

Wow this picture gets better and better. I am outside now imaging the same target with the exact same set up. If my picture turns out half as good I will be happy
