Hi Gazers,

Complete novice and newbie here...

Very happy to say that I am expecting to take delivery of my scope tomorrow.

I have opted for the Celestron NexStar 130 SLT.

Having spent a few hours reading posts on here last night, I did not see many (none) actually,

that use this telescope..

Be good to know that this is a reasonable telescope to ease me into this exciting new hobby...

Look forward to getting onto the forum more over the coming weeks and getting some top tips too.

Thanks all,

J

Hello and welcome to the forum - rest assured that there is nothing wrong with the scope you have coming, it will see you through many years to come, I am sure!

Good to know - ty - was just starting to wonder!

Just wanted to say a big thank you to all of you that took time out here to post a welcome message! That was a big welcome indeed...

I know it can be a little taxing saying hello to each and every newbie, but it is all worth while and has made my intro warm and welcoming.

Thanks also to John or JG777 for the heads up on people locally. Once I get myself familiarised with my telescope and gain some confidence, it would be great to meet up locally if you guys organise star parties in or around the locality.

Many thanks all...

Hi Abbots,

There are plenty of people around in Berks, depending on where you are it is a fairly big region but there are a few of us based around Bracknell ( see social groups list here http://stargazerslounge.com/forum/178-bracknell-astronomy-club/ ) and there is also nearby Reading Astronomical society http://www.readingastro.org.uk/ and Maidenhead astronomy club http://www.maidenhead-astro.net/

We ( Bracknell ) do try and organise nights out but normally the weather has a say in what goes on! You're more than welcome to join us.

John
