Decided to start again after constructive criticism (gratefully received!)

Also found that if I converted the greyscale image to an RGB .png file before uploading to Astrobin, this gave a more accurate representation of what I see on my calibrated monitor....?

Two versions: hi-res here:

Original V1 http://astrob.in/full/32584/

and for comparison...

More Subtle V2 http://astrob.in/full/32580/

Just need to get some more data now before it's too late this year!

Gear:

8x 1200sec

Takahashi FSQ106-ED + dedicated F/R @f/3.6

SBIG STF8300M + Baader 7nm Ha filter. Guided with SBIG ST-i via ST-80 via MicroProjects Equinox Image (beta test)

'Scopebuggied' Takahashi EM400 mount - controlled via MicroProjects Equinox Pro (all on a 17" MacBook Pro)

Preprocessed (Darks and Flat frames), aligned and stacked in Nebulosity 3.

Processed in Adobe Photoshop CS5 with 'Noel's Actions'

Thanks for looking - thought it was easier to start a new topic/thread!

A female work colleague noticed me uploading this just a second ago and cried out that it was a skull.

Now she's said it, that's what I'm seeing also!

A bit more menacing than a Rosette :angry4: !

Damian (as in the Omen666 !)
