M42

Hi every one managed to get this in quickly Saturday night, Its a bit more noisy than I would like so weather permitting I will add some more data to it

10 x5 minute subs, then 10 x 30 seconds for the core

The usual set up Quattro 8 inch cf modified Canon 1100d with cls clip filter,

neq6 pro mount , Mppc coma corrector,qhy5 auto guider with Phd.

Very nice image - it's nice to see M42 with all of the "gassy" areas left intact rather than edited out in Photoshop

Very nice! You've done a fantastic job combining the 2 sets of subs, maintaining the detail perfectly across the brightness range. I think it just needs a slight increase in contrast, personally.

Gassy, I smiled when I read that. I'm surprised I haven't heard jokes about Orion "passing gas".

I have taken what lewis said on board, and gave the pic a bit more contrast and just a bit more colour

very nice capture. I too, like Coco, would be very interested to know what caused the diffraction spikes to flare / fan out. I do not mean elongate, they are just not precise.

Thanks every one for the kind words, To be honest I am not to sure what's causing the strange diffraction spikes,

the only thing I could think of is the secondary supports are not 100% square to the tube/ or slightly twisted at a guess anyway.

Perhaps a more experienced newt owner might know more.
