Solar Proms - Heads Up

I've just checked the Gong network and there is some quite serious prominence activity on the South East limb this morning. If the clouds let me I would be getting the solar scope out http://halpha.nso.edu/movie_90_L.html

We had lovely sunshine until about 8am this morning. Now the cloud is so thick you can hardly tell which way is up

Had some good views of this during the morning from home with a 80mm PST mod and then at the obs with a 100mm version, lovely detailed large main prominence.

It's cleared up now but the sun has long passed the tree line.

Looks great too.

Even if I wanted to I still have not found the "sweet spot" on my PST, lots of reading to do .

did you notice what looked like a sun quake on the right middle side of the sun

There certainly is a lot of activity on the right side at the moment, been there a few days now, three sloar spots in all.

I would not have bothered without it

I managed to set up grab about a dozen avi's and pack away in record time before the thick dark clouds came back
