Be interesting to see if they have trained staff to deal with questions.....

Well they dont when they sell PC's, why would they train them for scopes :)

Funny that I usually apply for work at PC world, could this give me an edge on a job interview? :D :D

If you know anything about computers/telescopes they will have you in the warehouse away from those pesky customers :)

What annoys me is how these BIG firms trample over the small and informative dealers (and often pushing the dealers out of business).

I just wish firms would stick with their core products and make that business successful instead of chasing dreams and thus devaluing their core business. Sooner than later the PC World/Dixon/Currys will just be on shop and usless at selling anything.

Just like how Homebase has turned from a DIY store into a Home Furnishing shop that sells a few little tools and a bit of paint. You can even buy Motobility scooters from Homebase now yet you can not buy Pillar Drills, Bench Press,Bandsaws,Bench Sanders etc. Usless shop and also now very expensive and then wonders why sales are down when not many people visit nowadays. It's not the lack of DIYers as they all go elsewhere now to get WHAT then need and at a cheaper price.

I shouldn't worry. I doubt PCWorld is going to drive specialist astro retailers out of business :).

I am not popular at my local pc world since i told a salesman he was talking utter (spherical and in the plural) , so he passed me on to another, who tried selling me software i neither needed or wanted along with their expensive repair cover. Tech guys there's a joke, chimpanzees could do a better job lol. I cannot believe they charge £15 to install a stick of ram!!!

Luckily we still have Wickes, B&Q and quite a few good trade dealers. The scopes PC world is selling are traditional department store scope, not too much to worry about. Their core business is a joke anyway. They sell software, TV and accessories, but almost no PC components. I'm not talking about top end stuff, they don't even stock mid range GPU.

I once went into PC World for a new laptop and the one I was interested in didn't have long enough security cable to look on the bottom without setting off the alarm. Salesmen came running over like stampede to ask what I thought I was doing. So I explained that I wanted to look at the bottom - they asked why on earth would I want to do that? - I replied that I wanted to see if it had two drive trays (my present one does and it is very handy - the answer was none of them knew, none of them wanted to simply turn it over and have a look because 'there were other people in the shop to serve' - I asked, in that case can I see the handbook - you can guess the answer, which was 'no' we haven't got the time to go and find it. So there we were with four salemen around me who not only had no knowledge of the product, but further, had no idea of how to make a sale either.

Never been in there since
