orion is a bit low for me ,theres other nebs out there but a fear the 90mm refractor is not good enough for that and the 12" dob is a no go apart from video and a have no ccd camera just a web cam but it would work may be 3 secs unguided iso 400 ,and alter the iso to suite, what systen do you gave to track?

hi if you ring your local council and report the said street light explain to them that the light keeps you awake at night,my local council has just painted me 4 out and it helps loads also i made a triangle shapped key (a pair of long nose pliers will do) go to the street light were the cover is unscrew it and lift it of theres a nice on off switch ,switch the light of for 10 mins go have a cuppa ,then switch it back on ,because they are high presure bulbs they take a least 2 hours to light back up and thats plenty of time but has a said explain to the local street lighting department that they keep you awake light polution is like any polution they will have to act on it cheers pat
ps a will do a blog and take some pics of the painted street lights
but a great idea with the shhets

hi rich i have the same camera the moon ,if am use in scope and no guideing then its about 0.200 of a sec iso can be any where between 100/200 make sure you do have a pen and paper handy for when you do get it right if a use the goto mount on high precision works fine for me,if i usejust the camera its imposible for me the 90mm frac a one set,of settings the 300mm reflector is the same i did some wide field shots just on the tripod the other day 0f cassopeia, i used iso 400,manual focus at infinity,(turned all the way to the right the lense) and 10sec subs i did about 30 pics at that with darks, flats and bias its a bit hit and miss its another ball
game when you use the t ring ect so its hard to say but for the moon and telescope its normaly iso 100,0.200 sec
heres a link to some
Cassiopeia pictures by todd8137 - Photobucket
a lot depends on the conditions on the night
-
@ kmdrBB07 if you have any camera that you can set the iso and time point it upwards
-
great pic , i use a programe called camtasia studio, vidoe editing software it as a great "zoom" function were you can lock and zom any part of the screen and it hardly degrades the vidoe, save as avi and run through, glad that the lazer gadget works well and is nw part of your routine,it gets dark here for about 3 hours at around 01:30 you can see the blue on the horizion .last night took 36 ,30sec pics onlt to find when i went to take the dark frames i had not taken the lense cap of doh,any way will try forursa major agai and this time take 36x30 secsand see what happens have a great week end /week

hi Paul hope ya well try some wide shots ya self with out the scope would be interesting to see what you get
-
ps its a great pic you should try adding 15x 1`4000 of a sec i added them to one of mine also stretch a old white t shirt over the end of the scope and shine a bright light at it and take 15 x subs of that let the camera sort the speed and all the rest out put it on auto the bias lights will lift your pics i tried it the other night on some wide field shots it made a big diference i love the pics you did and are very jelous i only have a 90mm refractor and with the light pol i have here its just a dream at the min the 12"reflector is on a non motor base so thats a pain

hi these are were the newest are widefield shots, with the goto mount for tracking which is seady for maybe 15mins before a monor re-adjustment
-
the price sounds about right, but if it takes a few mins to do it thats even better a lke to check mine most times am out a little tweak helpsand its good practice i have to lug the 12" down the garden its about 35 feet to my obs and its heavy some times and gets bumped about a bitnot done much eye looking at the min take in pics as taken over its so adictive,i even made a dew cover out of a old plant pot flocked the inside and it works a treat for the dslr lens the dew the other night was rough,do not no if you got chance to see my last wide field shots, did your pics take a nose dive a no ya did a few,did you get any futher with it ?
have a great week
pat
