I cracked and have Classic Shell now, it helps but I still don't like where it puts my uploaded pictures off the sd card.

Probably your best bet is the Equinox 66mm..

      JB80

That's the thing, I was originally thinking a Borg 50, then got caught up with the Starwave and now I have found a nice little Baader 66.

I get sidetracked too easily. :D

      Luke

Congrats, Jarrod :D Well deserved, a classy disc. Always look forward to your images. Oh yes, we're all dipping in the pools here in the UK cough cough. Actually, it's half decent today, I'd almost dip a toe in the sea :D

  4. Aargh, windows update decided to happen just as I was setting my scope up, took 45 minutes. Then firecapture didn't want to work and now clouds. :(

To be honest Ant I didn't do anything, firecapture would read the camera but wasn't running it so I turned it all off and when I started again in the evening it was all fine. I still don't know what was the problem but a restart fixed it for me.

    3. Ant

Mmmm think mines a little more terminal than that. Tried restore point, reinstalling drivers and software, ccleaner. Glad your sorted though :)

Hope you can sort it out soon, sorry I can't be of much help.

Ta Luke! Well it cleared up here a bit this morning after some rain, I got a mosaic in but we will see if that turns out. Hopefully after next week when it clears up we will be back at the lovely spring temps getting a tan again.

      Qualia

Hope you're right, Jarrod :-) I'm getting fed up with this. I've had two night sessions and two Sun sessions this month and February wasn't much better :-)

Hope so too, it can't be any worse.

My wife will be working in Alicante so to start with somewhere 10-20 minutess away, maybe near Elche or El Campello. We have a heap of places to see so far, we don't really want to be in the middle of a city, once we have settled we will look to move a bit further out.

    3. Qualia

      Qualia

Lovely, maybe if funds are good an apartment with garden might be found, but I'd seriously not worry about that. If you've a car, you've got some amazing dark sites and natural parks dotted all over the place.

    4. JB80

      JB80

We are looking at villas with either a big yard or nice view but it's hard to tell until we actually see them in person. In July when we move proper we will have the car with us so as you say I think some trips may be in order.

      JB80

Well I'm not even sure I'll be going but something has come up and we might be in London for a weekend in November. Would of been nice if there was an astro fair or something.

  10. Two massive white lights have appeared in the distance, my whole southern sky is now lit up blue. :( Hope it's temporary.

I'm nearly certain it's a construction site but I need to check out exactly where though, odd seeing as they are not allowed to work at night.

It is a joke, it's bad enough here as is, normally the sky is orange so I was surprised to see the blue cast.

    3. chrisfellows

      chrisfellows

It really is a joke! I live in Birmingham but in my garden the LP isn't so bad as I'm facing away from the city center but I guess there will be no escaping the LP soon. Saying that....I've read that these new LED street lamps they're installing will reduce LP by around 25%....lets hope they HURRY UP!

    4. JB80

      JB80

Well I located where it is coming from I think but couldn't find a company name on the outside of the place, I'll give them a week and then report them to whoever I have to.

That is one more than me, Jarrod! Forecast went downhill for us, it was looking good at one stage, moon tucked out the way for later as well! Hoping for some weekend Sol now, just rain and rain here Thurs and Fri! Look forward to you being back in business. Hope all has gone well!

    4. JB80

      JB80

I saw two the night after but dozed off towards the end. Things have gone pretty good with the move, messy but good. Looks like cloud and downpours though this weekend.

  12. Moving house Friday and without realising it I think I may have had my last astro session here. :(

Thanks Luke and Amra. We are at the point now if we pull out we lose our deposit and if the sellers do they pay us double so I'm certain it will happen now.

      Luke

I think he uses The Force. Either that, or he's on a secret Moon base :) Good luck if you go for it this afternoon, I might try 20 minutes on the Moon later if it clears, I just can't face these fast moving clouds again for solar imaging!! :-o

    4. JB80

      JB80

Think I'm going to pass now, I have be meaning to catch the Moon since my successful test with the DMK the other night but conditions have been poor since.

I think you probably need a family standard machine. They're powerful enough these days and can do all you want if you're not planning on running software like 3D Max, Photoshop and Illustrator at the same time :)

    4. JB80

      JB80

Yeah, nothing too fancy. I figure either equal to or more than the current specs I have which is 6GB or ram and two 750 HDs, although I may have to not go 1.5TB

Excellent day isn't it, Jarrod :-) I went up in t-shirt and came down sweating. My girlfriend's away this weekend, so I'm having a perfect day of doing nothing but planning a session, viewing the Sun, collimating the dob etc. Suppose I ought to wash the dishes but I'm alergic to water :-)

    4. JB80

      JB80

Yep, it's gorgeous! The in-laws are here so it's a good excuse to get outside.

    3. Qualia

      Qualia

There's also a vicious wind up this end, but surprisingly it isn't in action today. I don't mind the clouds, rain but I hate the wind. I seriously take it quite personally :-)

    4. JB80

      JB80

I'm starting to feel that way too, the poor old 150PL is wobbling away like crazy.

      JB80

Thanks for the link, I'm just getting a bit stir crazy and was wondering what it would be like if we moved there(not that we are atm). It can't be any worse than Brussels.

  23. Wow, I have taken over 400 images this year.

    1. JB80

That is finished images, I'd hate to think how many went into all of them.

    2. ronin

      ronin

With the vast number of weather complaints, how have you managed more then 1 for each day of the year?

    3. JB80

      JB80

The weather is a touch better down in Spain plus the majority has been solar in both white light and Ha. It's a record of some sort for me though.

  24. Been a big solar afternoon and now time for a quick lunar session and on to Jupiter before a well earned lay down and drink. Possibly some food too.

I think your rain has come here, Jarrod :-o I am bracing myself for a tough summer solar period, sun tan lotion, sunglasses, cold drinks, baseball caps, but you do what ya gotta do :D

    3. JB80

      JB80

Hard life aint it. :D At one point they were saying tomorrow was going to be 31°c here but that has been revised to a brisk 26° now.
