  1. Hmm, I have seen this issue mentioned quite a bit recently….on the PI for beginners FB group… local normalisation failure…🤔🤔
  2. Swap has no effect on WBPP, it’s only for post processing where you have an undo function…. What do you mean by fast, I have a Ryzen 9 5900, which is better than the i9, and with full calibration frames Darks, flats and dark flats, (not masters) and 160 x 2 min lights it still took 1 hour 45 mins
  3. Also swap folders only really are useful on separate SSD, I have three in my system, they do work on the C drive, but best on different drives to get the full benefit…👍🏻
  4. Ok, well it’s up to you, was just an idea….didn’t hurt to try…👍🏻
  5. Hmmm, same settings I used…🤔🤔 thanks 👍🏻
  6. I got 15-20% increase, just try it and then run the PI benchmark script before and after and you will see, no harm done in trying, if not just delete all but one of the folders….👍🏻
  7. Add more swap folders, about 6 on each drive you have installed as long as they are SSD drives, makes a big difference. delete the swap folder it creates by default, and make a new one on C drive called Pixinsight swap folder, and add It multiple times under edit, global preferences, network and folders, don’t create different folders, just the one and add the same one multiple times, I have three SSD drives in my machine and have 6 swap folders on each drive… if You just have the one drive then add 8, or 10 or more to that drive and it will still give a good speed increase…👍🏻
  8. Beautiful rendition of this target, i have done this recently too, and just started with PI, can I ask what you used to remove the stars, as I used starnet 2, but found it left a few larger ones behind cheers
  9. Have a look here, if you use windows 10…👍🏻 https://www.windowscentral.com/how-turn-your-windows-10-pc-wireless-hotspot
  10. When in doubt, If the filter is in a cell, then the end with the male threads will always go towards the cameras… 🤔 Strange you flattener requires it to be the other way round, but the filter could be swapped around in the cell, by removing the locking ring and flipping over, not a difficult job as long as the locking ring is not too tight
  11. For a DSLR size sensor you will need the 2” 👍🏼
  12. Wow, very overly complicated, glad I got the simple QHY version…my brain would not cope with that Rising Cam, although I have been looking at getting the mono version, as it’s so much cheaper….than the QHY or ASI versions
  13. Ah, ok mine is the QHY version, did not realise there was so much difference….sorry….👍🏼
  14. 700 😮😮 I and many others only use 25-30 offset…..what so high…?
  15. Why are you using zero offset, that is not good, you have to have some offset, to move the histogram away from the left side of the graph, that is the point…an offset of about 25-30 is normally all that is needed, so the “min” setting is not zero, and more like 200-600
  16. That’s really kind of you, the one I need is for a Losmandy dovetail clamp, and it for a 1/4” UNC Allen bolt I would like 3 if possible, please let me know how to send the cost along with the postage cost to me Thanks very much, really appreciated 👍🏼
  17. Looking for some of these, for 1/4” UNC Allen head bolts, they press into the head, so can tighten by hand Anybody know of a UK supplier… thanks 👍🏼
  18. Thanks, yes am loving the software seems to fit my way of thinking, been using for two weeks now and watched about 30 videos on YT…but deffo going to buy it… Used a process by Lukamatico on YouTube, for this image… https://youtu.be/lT1fXqR82_M
  19. This is an image I took early this year, and just re processed in Hubble palette as I have plunged into Pixinsight, this is 100% calibrated, stacked and processed in PI, after using the software for 2 weeks. 158 x 2 min subs with TakFSQ85 QHY268c with Optolong L-Extreme
  20. Great image 👍🏼 but just an FYI, you should not use dark flats and bias frames, just pick one or the other….👍🏼
  21. Superb, but you should really use arcseconds and not pixels for your guide graph, it will give you a much clearer idea of how good it really is….
  22. it may well be, but I was just told by more than one person to make sure the dark flats and flats were at least 4 seconds, I just took them at there word, and assumed, rightly or wrongly, that they knew what they were talking about..but will ask the question again and see, I will let you know…👍🏼 Changing the subject, what is the distance from the sensor to front of the camera on the 268m..? looking at getting the mono version to go with my OSC, but want to check on fitting in my train…
  23. Yes, Dynamic brightness, that was the phrase I was looking for…..😂😂
