  1. Lovely surface detail showing on the second image and the colour is quite pleasing.
  2. I just realised that NGC 3184 is the one I imaged about a month ago and also had the designation quandary with NGC 3180. Had a closer look at the time on Stars and the main galaxy is 3184, about 30º clockwise from the bright star on its periphery is NGC 3180. Looks like a partial circle of stars.
  3. Thats a pain. I wish all sensors were square, much more pleasing aspect on certain objects and it could have saved your mosaic.
  4. Cheers mate, I'll look into that one.
  5. Lovely proms on the close ups. Good luck with completing the jigsaw.
  6. M63 was actually the first of my projects with my new set up, did an initial process which was awful so ditched it. Playing around I realised I had to be a bit more draconian with my subs and here is the result. Lx18 Binned 1x1 210 secs Rx23, Gx12, Bx13 Binned 2x2 210 secs Drizzled and worked in Pixinsight.
  7. Haven't really had a chance to play with the SkyGuider, been concentrating on my main rig. I did take a few demo shots with it and the tracking was excellent. I also got the Williams Optics wedge, it's loads better than the iOptron.
  8. A Celestron or Skywatcher Powertank will be fine for roaming around.
  9. DewControl is cheaper and offer different connectors. https://www.dewcontrol.com/Mains_Power_Supply_Unit_-_12V_5A/p3099125_20310292.aspx
  10. Going by the scratches on the pier top and looking at the threaded holes, I would say that has been used before. Have a word and see if they will knock a bit off to cover the cost of touching up the paint.
  11. Calibration frames will help a lot. Post processing would be a crop to remove border artefacts, noise reduction, gradient removal etc.
  12. Lovely image, time well spent. I don't think many people will get a much better result.
  13. Looks great, a well done 15 minutes.
  14. One method I've a couple of times with my SkyGuider/DSLR is to put my phone square on partly across the front of the lens with Stellarium on the phone. Can be a bit tricky to hold square and see how far off you are from your target. Once you think you have it take an image. If your target is in frame then it's easier to judge how much to tweak it to get it centred.
  15. Is your laser pointer mounted securely in line with your optics ?
  16. Hopefully those blobs are stars which means you aren't too far away from focus. Maybe try on the brightest star you can find first then taken M44.
  17. Cheers mate, I could be one up here on the experts. 😂
  18. Hang a bag of stones from the end of the bar.
  19. A great re-work, both are excellent images. There is so much you can do playing around with colour and brightness that it makes it difficult on what to decide on for a finished result. Just wondering what it would look like with a 50/50 merge of the two.
  20. Anyone know if I've got the colour right, can only find a couple of not very good images on the internet.
  21. Not the greatest shot but managed to get the colour spot on. Canon 80D, 400mm @f/9, 1/250s, handheld .
  22. Cheers for the likes fellas. I've been following loads of tutorials on the different processes in PI and it all comes down to it being very flexible about when to do certain processes. The problem I've been having is once I get my RGB where I want it (following tutorials) as soon as I add the lum my only result is absolutely colourless. Not sure what I've been missing.
