  1. Nice. I'm surprised there's more detail on the B&W than the coloured version....
  2. Virgin effort very good......👏
  3. Good to see there's still a sun up there! Thanks Nigella.
  4. Cheers back. That one looks like a chandelier about to fall off!
  5. Nice one! "background noise" is that newton's rings? Or something from the conditions. Not heard of photofiltre, so thanks for the nudge. Chill wind here too, but thick cloud.
  6. Nice capture, and you've got that little spot showing...... I was tempted to get out today, but we've got a lot of high cloud and it's been a breezy day.
  7. Definitely an angel! Perhaps she's watching over us....
  8. Too late, but still a gem! Far too windy here for anything sensible!
  9. Thanks Craig - think my head just exploded!
  10. May I ask a supplementary question here - if Gain ~ ISO, what's Offset?
  11. Before going to the tilt option, have you just tried flats?
  12. Thanks Nigella - 2 for the 178mm mmmmm!
  13. Very true Dave. I also took some suggestion from a table produced by agena astro that gave the 178 4 stars for Solar. But I'll look again, you might have a point especially for resolution detail.
  14. Thanks Dave, I had looked at that one but thought it too close to the 174.
  15. Hi all, May I pick your brains.... My ZWO 120MM is on its way out - In order to use it I have to re-flash the firmware each time in order for my PC to recognise it. ZWO have tried to sort it, remotely, without solution. I have a ZWO 174MM ( Cool - for future options ). In two different telescopes for Solar imaging; William Optics 102GT + Lunt Herschel Wedge & Lunt LS 60 tha. The 174 allows for full-disc images. Can anyone recommend a decent camera to complement the 174, and these two 'scopes? Doesn't necessarily include ZWO. Budget around £250 +/- sensible amount....
  16. You found masking off to 50mm a benefit - is it something you do frequently....?
  17. Ah ! I thought you wrote libation! Chuckles. Great shots and aye - the Moon's fascinating ( after the sun ) .... Have ye all seen this one ...
  18. Aye - but in the context of the cost of the telescope and the cameras and the tripod and the mount .....
  19. Interesting. I have a similarly noisy sensor on my 120MC. A recent image....A lot of my dots don't move :D. Even as low as 5 seconds I seem plagued with the little pests. Gain, I have as low as 20 to try and get rid of them... Many of my images have vertical lines, too. Perhaps I need to improve my focus, but I'm close to throwing this camera in the nearest bin! p.s. I'm also using AllSkEye software - but the bad pixel mapping is befuddling me!
  20. I invested in a Lunt PC Controller because I sit comfortably indoors while it all happens outside
