  1. Hi and welcome to SGL.
  2. Don’t knock it if it works 😀
  3. Not only is it normal it is mandatory, can’t have people enjoying themselves when they get new gear 😀
  4. I have the Celestron 15 x 70 binoculars and find they do give some great views but only with a monopod. My solution was a telescopic walking pole, attach a handle which makes a convenient walking stick. The handle once removed can fit in your pocket then attach a ball head to your binoculars and you are ready to go. This only takes a minute or two which I find very convenient.

    Hello

    Hi Carl, welcome to SGL.
  6. Yes I think there is quite a difference. With the Dob it is simply a matter to nudging and tilting but the EQ mounts are a bit more difficult to adjust IMO. I have tried all the mounts an now just have the Dob and a AZ mount with tripod for my refractor.
  7. Hi and welcome to SGL. A SW 200P is a great starter scope, personally I would opt for the Dobsonian as the EQ mounts are a little more complicated IMO.
  8. Hi and welcome back to SGL.
  9. Hi Roy, welcome to SGL. I t is a well known fact that when anyone buys new astronomy gear the weather turns cloudy for at least a fortnight, so with all the extra people venturing into astronomy last year it look like it will be cloudy for some time. 🙁😀
  10. Hi Martin, welcome to SGL.
  11. Hi and welcome back to SGL. I used to have a 127 Mak but found it just could compete with my 200P Dob which is why I sold it. The platform trolley which my Dob sits on makes it very easy to wheel about and it is ready to go in 2 minutes.
  12. Don’t know how I missed it but there is a video on YouTube showing how to fit the focuser motor so it should be easy enough.
  13. Thinking of fitting a motor focuser to my ST 120 but I am not sure it the focuser knob is removable or not. Can anyone help please. Thank you in advance.

    Hi All

Hi Paul, welcome to SGL, looks like you have made an excellent start to your AP journey.
  17. Thanks for your reply, I didn’t notice the screw you mentioned so it should be an easy job to sort out. Many thanks.
  18. Just fitted the SW dual speed focuser and noticed that there is no finder bracket on it. Has anyone else upgraded to one of these focuser sand if so how did you solve the finder base problem. Thought it was a bit odd that the original has a finder bracket but the upgrade doesn’t.
