  1. Altair was testing encoders for Sabre awhile back. I sent them a message about it but never heard back. I saw photos though and it looks good. Check their Facebook page.
  2. Picked the book up earlier today and bought Apollo 11 Manual as well. 10% discount when you pick up and buy something in the shop. Thanks again paulastro for posting this
  3. From what you say maybe 8" SCT? The same light gathering capability and pretty much easier to live with if you don't have space. There's one for sale on ABS https://www.astrobuysell.com/uk/propview.php?view=151951 - looks like great package for the money.
  4. Barlowing the 6mm with Baader 2.25x barlow will get you down to 2.7mm. Is that something you need? Turret is a nice addition but I rarely used it. I would also check amazon.co.uk for these eyepieces Sometimes they can be had for as low as 32 GBP.
  5. Thanks for this. Just ordered one from Works for pickup tomorrow.
  6. I looked through them using 150mm f5 Newtonian and they worked perfectly. I would get 32mm, 18mm and 10mm and barlow. You already have 5mm eyepiece and if you get 6mm one of them would be redundant - depends on the scope really. The 6mm is very tight and might be difficult to use. It is a very nice set, usable in many scopes. I especially like the 18mm. Somehow it very clear and comfortable.
  7. There are two versions of 3.16 firmware. One is for AltAz right side and EQ mode and the other is the 'normal' one. If you have the right hand firmware and you initialise the mount as AZ then yes, needs to be placed on the right. http://skywatcher.com/download/software/motor-control-firmware/
  8. Aha! I thought those were enabled by default.
  9. Can you extend on this. Primary and secondary encoders?
  10. Get AZ GTi wifi mount + either 127 mak or 5" sct. Both are easy to live with and provide great views. Especially the 127 mak + AZ GTi combo is really good and within your budget. What is left of that 600 add a few Pounds and get Baader zoom and you are sorted with everything.
  11. Some scopes have finder on 'the wrong side' for default mount orientation but you can update the mount to eq mode via firmware. Then you can mount the scope the other way and make everything more accessible (if??).
  12. Ahahahahahahahahahahahahaha. Not a chance. 80% at least on Astro gear and then we can talk about Jewelry.
  13. Grumpy Martian, which mount is that in the photo?
  14. They don't come up for sale. The thing is...they are usually the last buy after buying and selling a bunch of scopes
  15. I suspect the magnification was just too much on top of bad seing and low elevation?? You also didn't mention which eyepieces you used with two other scopes. Try less magnification next time. Like 200x or even less.
  16. I am very happy with these for both night and day : https://www.opticron.co.uk/our-products/binoculars/explorer-wa-ed-oasis-c-plus-binoculars/explorer-wa-ed-oasis-c-8x42
  17. AZ GTi is very nice. Put it on a sturdier tripod ( I have mine on EQ6 now ) and ADM saddle and it will handle both your scopes fine.
  18. Just putting it out there....this is the source. Just to give direct credit to person who filmed this.... https://sattrackcam.blogspot.com/2019/05/wowowow-spectacular-view-of-spacex.html
  19. I mounted OO 6" f5 Newtonian which is exactly 5kg ( old blue tube sold with Vixen GP ) on it ( Gti ) and it could handle it. This was with the stock saddle. I since bought ADM saddle hoping it would provide even better mounting. If you think about it. With ADM saddle it'll be safe and so what if the mount stops working in 2 years. Just buy another head
  20. In stock doesn't mean anything on astro shops. Always better to check first but it can be annoying. Sometimes there comes Thursday or Friday that I want something and it says in stock but when I check it's actually not and the wait time is anywhere from a few days to couple of weeks. I understand it's hard for small shops like astro to have this nailed down but on the other hand a little transparency would go a long way.
  21. In my opinion and from what I saw these are the same scopes from the same assembly line. WO's are beautiful though in those bling colours
  22. It holds Starguiders well but I never became friends with it For what you want I feel Baader zoom would be much better.
  23. I believe this is the same telescope as other 102mm f7 fpl53 refractors.
