As John said, quality. I don't mind cheap ebay products. I bought plenty and they are satisfactory. In theory those Lynx cables should be of higher quality so why not. I don't mind spending a little more for a better quality promise. Also, orange is cool

Hmm....I think it's this one : https://www.firstlightoptics.com/astronomy-cables-leads-accessories/lynx-astro-silicone-power-cable-21mm-dc-jack-to-21mm-dc-jack-with-coupler.html ... no ... actually this one : https://www.firstlightoptics.com/astronomy-cables-leads-accessories/lynx-astro-silicone-power-cable-21mm-dc-jack-to-21mm-dc-jack.html Thanks for pointing me to the right direction! Ordering now. Unfortunately I don't have the tools for this and it wouldn't be a proper job. The last time I did any wiring like this is 25 years ago

Sorry guys, I assumed too much. The cable should be male to male 2.1mm 5.5mm reverse polarity (centre positive).

12V/3A max - should be flexible, ideally coiled.

What are some options out there for a high quality DC cable to connect AZ GTi to external TalentCell battery?

ScopeTech 80mm Fraunhofer Telescopes
heliumstar replied to FLO's topic in Sponsor Announcements and Offers
@FLO Interesting scopes but I will hijack this thread for something else. I heard one particular mount from the same manufacturer is heading your way -
Is this not a thing of beauty?

Dad won't like that puny little 72ed I had 80mm version both old and new disguise of this Vixen. Great scopes but unfortunately too long for my narrow balcony. Vixen mounts are smooth as a butter as well. -
Takahashi Focuser Sideplay

I am very pleased with it. That flat field!!.....I use Q mode for white light and splitting double stars and it's just amazing. Luna is great as well. I had it at 270x the other day and the view was really good. It's like you are looking at the mountains far away. Really good image. It's 60mm though so you have to manage expectations. In CB mode I use it for EAA but less lately in part because of focusing issues. Bahtinov might help here. I don't know how Chinese scopes do it. Altair Astro 80ED-R is one example of a sleeper telescope. No CA whatsoever, great focuser, great looks. And all that for the price of a FT focuser for my little Tak. Strange times.... I am on the verge here. Get new focuser or get the whole new telescope again -
Takahashi Focuser Sideplay

I have FS-60Q. I am okish with the focuser now. I adjusted it to get rid of stiffness but it's still not as smooth as out of the box one from various other mid priced scopes. Side play is annoying since when drawing out you can see the focuser tube actually moving sideways. The reality is that many people have issues with Tak focuser and that's why there's a whole industry out there and you can buy £600+ focuser for it -
Takahashi Focuser Sideplay
heliumstar replied to jock1958's topic in Discussions - Scopes / Whole setups
It's when you realise that mechanical is just as important as optical. With various SW I knew the focusers are so so except for 72ed which was great in my case. Hexafoc was always spot on as was anything on the many clones from China (Altair Astro 60ed and 80ed-r). Mind you the focuser on the Tak is not bad or unusable in any way. Just a little annoying. Almost as much as it might be worth splashing for FT one. If I would be 100% visual in Q mode then fine but in CB mode for EAA it's tricky getting focus. -
As-eq5GT anyone with it?

It certainly prevented me to buy one... -
Takahashi Focuser Sideplay

Mine was very stiff from the get go Interesting that this side play only a few of us experience. I went wide in search of this issue and it looks like most of Tak users don't experience side play. Mine is even worse than what I can see from your video. -

How did this play out in the end? I have the same issue with side play and in all honesty I think focuser on my Tak is not really up to standard overall. It's just ok in comparison to ES Hex one and the standard 2 speed Chinese one that comes with Altair 80ED-R. -

Just out of curiosity....what do you consider small scope? -
Mods please close this topic. I am sitting here trigger happy looking for 76D objective unit and thinking 100D-something would do nicely as well. I am out of here.

A man's gotta do what a man's gotta do. Beautiful instrument! -
Waiting for mirror box? Joke aside. Looking forward seeing the project you're working on. I have beaten stroller sitting in the doorway and am looking at it thinking "this can be used for a truss ota".....

I have two Newtonians (6" f5 and 10" f4.8) but they are both too big for my narrow balcony. I struggle with 80mm f11 refractor even. Maks and SCTs along with shortish refractors is where it's at for me. I am thinking of trying Tak Epsilon 130 (for EAA) but that looks to be too heavy as well for AZ GTi. Ags got me going now to get C6. With 6.3 reducer it would be great for short EAA sessions. I can't see anything in the "refractor world" that would be comparable. Currently I am using Tak FS-60Q in both f5.9 and f10 (EAA and visual) configs along with Bresser 102xs for EAA but I am looking at something bigger than 100mm that still offers wide views.
