  1. I still regret the day I sold this, really do, it would have sat with my ED103s so well. You live and learn of course.
  2. 'Dad time' is rather more special than astro time in my opinion, so time well spent Kev. I am at the opposite end of the uni journey, just started year 1.
  3. Progress continues, nice job so far. Feeds my want monster each time I look though.
  4. Post Person also delivered another book, lots of reading now to be done. eBay bargain at £6 including post and its like new. This now make 3 O'Meara books in the Deep-Sky Companions series I have. A year ago I was not really into deep-sky at all, how we change.
  5. Post person visited today, sorry for terrible image and photo-shopping, wanted to show what I want to see with it.... 2" Orion UltraBlock filter, know it works on the Veil. Used of AB&S, paid a little bit over the odds, but I wanted it.
  6. Well after your paint mishap things are looking better. Note you have twins, something we have in common, we have identical girls. This observatory is looking smarter by the minute, you must be pleased with how it’s looking.
  7. Nice woodwork Kev, wish I was as capable. My woodwork teacher at school suggested I should be kept from things wooden.
  8. No, just in Wiveliscombe-ish! and that has now ended too.
  9. Folks have been busy recently.....so have I on the book front, all used from eBay and Amazon. Companion for my SkyAtlas 2000 Second Edition. Messier Object- O'Meara. ISS Guide, Haynes. A bit of light reading for the damper nights we are having.
  10. Avtar, if I had a pound for each time someone says that, I could buy number of decent eye pieces.
  11. Kev The weather is holding many of us up now, cannot moan though its been so good for so long. I was in the garden digging yesterday in a tee shirt and felt too warm, so cannot complain. Digging for a long hedge to screen some lights that still shine in from next door over my observing pad.
  12. That colour looks nice Kev. The roof is all coming together well too.
  13. James, wow my man, that really looks stunning. I had wondered how it would start to come together, wonder no more. So what roofing are you now going for? or are you sticking with rubber on wood?
  14. All I can say is that being part of the journey was great and thank you. A very fine optic indeed and on my wanted list.
  15. I got some bolts and washers today, pln to slightly raise the OOUK dob base by 4mm for better ground clearance. Those in the know, will appreciate the valuable 4mm gained.
  16. Simon, What I was 'seeking' was your opinion and findings as an owner. Thanks for the web link though. I have looked at that very website many times lusting after an AYO II. The Vamo just looks small in all its images to me, but then again at 7 Kg rating, that is a fair load. Sadly the long delivery on AYO has stopped me buying any to date.
  17. Looks most interesting, is the Vamo more sturdy than it looks?
  18. An interesting indicator experiment Kev. But as Wim says, what was the temp at the back of the board and was the sample too small? I would stick with the existing colour and accent the edges with something else myself, but then again it's not my observatory or garden and I don't have to look at it everyday.
  19. Looking great whatever the colour Kev, you are doing great. I like the greens myself.
  20. At first glance, I registered a Snow Ball and was impressed it survived the post. Now I have read the wording, very nice indeed and Happy Birthday in advance.
  21. Far, far too long Shane....... the shame of it 6 months + and no changes. The next thing you will say is you have ended your EP journey! ?
  22. Yet again not the postman, but I collected part 2 of my OOUK Dob-quest and brought them together, please forgive the terrible image. Mind you at the minute The RM keep delivering this days late to me.....but that's another story.
  23. Nice progress James, even if it doesn't feel like it to you. This roof is looking like it will be super when it comes together.
  24. Yesterday evening the postman/person did not deliver, I went and collected and had a nice drive to the South Coast. (not ice as first posted!). Stage 1, of my Dob quest, Orion Optics base for a 10".
  25. James, as long as its sound, who cares what it looks like as you have a grinder to 'finish' things. Look forward to the roof taking shape.
