  1. I've just been on the site and it works fine. I downloaded the app and all seems well. Do you realise that the app just downloads when you press on the download link ? It doesn't redirect to another page. Dave
  2. What a cracking T shirt and image ... wear with pride, Dave.
  3. I used the 1.03 patch a few years ago. It worked perfectly but I only used the two things you mention. I didn't bother with the video stuff. As for risk. Of course there is a risk but the D7000 must be one with the least risk as the main guy, Simeon, uses a D7000. I think I used the menu based Dark Current. It's your choice but my memory seems to think it reset after each switch off of the power. Suited me fine as I didn't always want the Dark Current patch working. Daytime for instance. Try it and see what you think. To revert to the Nikon firmware is a simple enough task. Dave.
  4. You may already know this but that specification applies to Polar alignment without a Polar scope with the mini. See page 19 in the manual. I believe these mounts were sometimes sold without one. Cheers, Dave.
  5. I've not used an M50 and don't even posses a Canon camera but I do seem to recall the M series had a new internal operating system that 3rd party software can't use. Check and make sure I'm right but if I am then you may not be able to use stuff like BYEOS or APT etc. if that's important to you. I also notice SG Pro only states EOS. If I am wrong please let me know. Dave.

    Moonlit Caldera

Ah. My favourite photo from your Milky Way set. Those clouds must be a welcome mask for all those lights down there. What's it like when the clouds disperse ?

    Ladybower Skies

I have a few images with no car lights and it just doesn't have that extra edge. Thanks.

    Ladybower Skies

One of the very few images I've taken where the light on the clouds became the main attention grabber. Almost a show stopper in fact. I had to time my shutter release to coincide with cars travelling across the bridge which was fun with a timer delay ! Nikon D750 at 25 seconds and Sigma 14mm at f2.
  9. I'm assuming you lit the interior with a white lamp ? If so it's worked out very well and in this situation is far better than external light painting. Spooky Dave.
  10. Love it. That's a " Wish I'd done it " Image. Dave.
  11. An interesting opening salvo. Are you less than impressed ? If you ask them instead of us they may answer all your enquiries.
  12. Ah yes. Cracking idea and I hope you pull it off. I was also looking at the Wasdale area looking towards Scafell. Dave.
  13. Thanks Danny. That's very kind of you to say. I did like the Launch as I was taking it and tried five shots. I couldn't stack them because the Launch was moving ! Dave.
  14. As you can see from three of the images, there was hardly a breath of breeze that night. I was so lucky but over dressed ! What you can't tell is the noise of the Ducks ! What a racket while doing two and three. Dave.
  15. Paul and John, Glad you like them. I'll be getting a reputation for only doing reflections of Orion if I'm not careful ! Dave
  16. That's very nice of you to say. You've been looking very closely ! I did have to resort to a touch of noise reduction in Lightroom but I think I got away with it. Dave
  17. Hi Sara. Glad you like them. I hope they remind you of home Steve and Alan. Lovely place isn't it ? It looks a bit different at night but still recognisable. SteveA and Mars. Thanks very much. You remarks make it worth the effort. Cheers also for the likes Dave.
  18. I've been away for a few nights to Keswick and the first night was reasonably clear. A bit of mid layer cloud but not too bad. It appears that Orion and reflections are the theme again, as in the widefield competition Nikon D750, Tamron 15 - 30 f2.8 all at f2.8. The Keswick Launch shot and the Friar's Crag bench shot were ISO 3200 for 25 seconds. The Derwent Water and Friar's Crag shots were 6400 for 20 seconds. ( Don't read too much into those figures. It all depends on which way I hold my mouth ) All except the Bench image were single subs. The Bench was another Sequator five sub stack. As much as an experiment as anything else to see if the fine tree detail would remain and the sky would be smooth and less noisy. The darker shade sections were therefor recoverable even more so than normal. There was a very slight breeze so some branches did move a bit. Very minor processing on all four other than the fact that decisions took so long to make. Looking back at the processing steps I can't believe the time taken ! I avoided trying to enhance the Milky Way too much as it would look unnatural. So .... next time you find yourself up there, give it a go Dave.
  19. I know what you mean ! Look at the sales pages for this adaptor and it doesn't tell you what will and won't fit, that I've seen anyway. It will fit an Ais style lens. The G adaptor trick at least means you wouldn't have to keep changing the aperture by removing the lens and starting up your camera. Swings and roundabouts I suppose. Double check with Geoptik to see if they do in fact have a proper adaptor. Dave.
  20. I thought that lens trick only applied to Canon lenses ? Re the adaptor. I was going to get a similar adaptor a few years ago and had worked out that the best way to use it was rather convoluted. Buy a Canon Geoptic adaptor and a Canon to Nikon G adaptor. Something like this - https://www.lensadaptor.com/nikon-g-canon-eos-adaptor Ignore the price there are much cheaper ones !! Then you can operate the aperture mechanism. I've heard of people jamming bits of match stick in their lens but I wouldn't do it personally ! ( Jam the linkage open ) Unless Geoptic now make a proper adaptor I can't really help. Dave.
  21. I would try every scenario you can think of. One thing I would definitely try is to actually make it happen. Then find ways to prevent it. That way you'll be fully armed for the future. Dave.
  22. Just a thought here Nigel but why are you waiting to waste a clear night ? Can't these experiments be done any old night ? In fact, I would have thought you could just cap the scope and do it practically any time so long as the temperature isn't too high. Good luck with it, Dave.
  23. If you're trying to use the camera on a tripod with a lens then it's as good as anything else. No need to upgrade or change camera make. Dave
  24. They accept 1.25" filters and not 2". http://www.geoptik.com/index.php?route=product/product&path=93&product_id=126 Reason is different throat size as far as I'm aware. Dave.
