  1. In the pan? It’s the handle that always attracts me, Dave 🤔
  2. My favourite book. I read it at least once a year. Reminds we why I love astronomy (and variable stars in particular) BTW you can get it on Kindle
  3. Just make sure it’s the right way up before sitting down 😬
  4. Tripod for the Pocket Borg. Aka observatory in your pocket
  5. If you’re into Nordic walking, you’ll need a second one of those 😊
  6. 3mm on Moon is fine. Also on Mars. Not tried higher mags. At home I’ve found the Vixen HR 3.4 works well on planers, but for travel I prefer the flexibility that the NZ 3-6 offers in a single eyepiece
  7. The NZ 3-6 is part of my minimal airline travel kit with the FC 76 DCU ( and N 13 and Pan 24 + Tak prism diagonal
  8. Great news Fish! Looking forward to the pics 👍🏻
  9. Yes, pretty much the same brightness as last night, @Stu
  10. Strange day after Sunday’s beautiful weather. Snowflakes first thing now beautiful sunshine. Thought I’d tidy the office and fill the recycling bin. Then I came across this: 🤔
  11. I had it at mag 7.9 last night. This was an unfiltered CCD measurement which is typically a bit brighter that V band. I’ve seen several vis obs today at 8.1 to 8.5, mostly around 8.2
  12. Congratulations on your retirement Mike!!
  13. According to the Anthology of Visual Double Stars (Argyle, Swan & James) “there is currently no one alive who has seen the companion of Procyon. The last person to do so was Charles Worley 1935 - 1997”
  14. Yup, I’m afraid that’s what happens Nicola 😊 Great report and really pleased you are enjoying your new Tak.
  15. Actually, upon reflection I think it might have been @andrew s’s budgie smugglers that were debated in this forum, rather than @Stu’s 🤔
  16. Hacksaw? Actually, John Handleby is handy with hacking off bits off scope tubes. 😊
  17. Retractable dew shields have revolutionised my cloudy nights, though. Great for Tak OCD. 😊
  18. I think we discussed Stu’s budgie smugglers previously And briefly 😊
  19. Colour coordination is exemplary Hope you’re not going to mess up the look with your Tak 🤣
  20. Nothing wrong with equipment sentimentality. Im thinking of learning Japanese so I can speak to my Taks more easily.
  21. If I were going for an FC 100, I’d go for the DZ. Further, for visual I’d save a few Bob and stick with the Tak focuser. Not sure how airline portable, but with the dew shield retracted and accessories removed the length is only 595 mm according to FLO website.
