  1. You would think that after 80 years of launches they could now just hit a big red button and go, after all its not rocket science 😋 Alan
  2. Its exciting though in a strange way.. Alan
  3. I doubt mono cameras will exist in 10 years time perhaps less.. Alan
  4. You could argue just using a 50mm lens or similar on your camera and enjoy the ambience.. Alan
  5. I personally would go for the 72ED, because there might be more going on around the Sun especially if there is a bit of drifting cloud etc.. Have a go with the Moon (same apparent size as the Sun) with both scopes to see if any detail loss is realy significant. Alan
  6. What makes you think the tray is anywhere near level with the tripod/head😋 Alan
  7. It is probably not so important for AP but us photographers do want absolute accuracy and having a spirit level at 6 foot is no use to someone 5 foot 6 inches tall... Alan
  8. I do need a solution for this too, most mobile phones are useless for this as they have "curvy" backs.... Alan
  9. I too have the Spyder 5 but cant imagine that there is that much difference, I would check that the intel or other graphics settings are set to defaults before calibrating. Alan
  10. You can get 5V dew heaters that will run off a mobile phone power bank but they are only suitable for camera lenses/small scopes. I use one of these and it will fit my 90mm Mak as well as my lenses. Alan
  11. I have recently bought a load of camera gear, tripods/heads/cages etc even though I know I will never step out of the house for a very long time.. Alan
  12. It does indicate that most scopes throw 90% or more of the light gathered away.. Alan
  13. Oops missed that one a 10cm sensor is big.. Alan
  14. No it was just the objective lens, remember those vintage plate cameras with a very large sensitized glass plate at the rear... Alan
  15. Dont you mean 2,4 inches, which to me is tiny.. Alan
  16. I was thinking a pro camera would want a pro scope which probably has a much larger imaging circle than 60mm, even my old bino objective can project an image a foot across although its in no way corrected. Alan
  17. Nice but chips are a bit small and would want USB-C/Thunderbolt connectors rather than USB-3 for that money 🙂 Alan
  18. Not for me, I dont even go outside anymore although have spent loads on other stuff. Alan
  19. Nice result, I do find it amusing when people say astro photography is expensive, like you mentioned video is a league above, same with audio kit.. Alan
  20. I have the more expensive version, Canon WiFi controlled DSLR/ Canon Smartphone App and an L lens 😋 Alan
  21. Ah but what about autofocus, development of the smartphone interface and the ED glass 😀 Alan
  22. F ratio is a funny thing, useful for determining exp settings but its never a good idea to assume that everything is equal. I could have a f/2.8 DSLR lens or a Phone camera with a f/2.8 lens and it should be obvious which one actually collects more light.. Alan
  23. Not a bad idea, do realy want that tripod too. Alan
