  1. The more I use my 127mak, the more I prefer it to my C8.

Yeah, the C8 is just too powerful to use in residential areas. Picks up too much turbulence.

Not had such problems with my C8. Gets most nighttime use.

I had the C11, and if anything...I doubt I'll ever go back to having a Schmidt Cassegrain without having another scope as a back-up...side by side next a refractor and a reflector, the SCT failed to achieve the same amount of contrast...it wasn't that bad on planets though.

  2. Can't believe that all there is to go and look at laptops is PC World. Can't really shop around anymore.

No thanks to apple. Tesco is a good shout, won't buy on line. Prefer to be able to take it somewhere when it goes wrong.

20x80 bins and tripod for the in-law, and a 2.5 barlow for myself. Didn't really need one but as I was there it would have been rude not to come away with something for myself.

  7. Got a week booked off work in September when there is a new moon. Better start looking at Dark Sky campsites.

      JessicaFaye

Cheers. The set up will be a ST80 with a DSLR. And with my CG5 mount I can also do a polar alignment through the handset to make it that bit more accurate.

    3. tingting44

      tingting44

niceee! how can you do a polar alignment via the handset then mate? that sounds a very handy option, when you heading out then

    4. hobsey

      hobsey

Dunno, its a feature celestron mounts have. You align it the best you can through the polar scope, do a 2 star alignment, then do 2 calibration stars then do a polar alignment through the scope and handset. I will be setting up just as the brighter stars star to come through so I have a bit of light to level off the mount and use a compass to get true north.

  11. Nice, clear blue skies. Hope it lasts.

Is it your fault that the met office is now forecasting a washout for the Easter weekend?

    4. hobsey

      hobsey

Nope, I point the finger at everyone else as the weather was showing crappy before I ordered it.

      gooseholla

Seeing isn't all that great anyway. well at least not here. Mars is just turbulence, and everything else is washed out.

  18. Thats it, got the last piece of the imaging puzzle. Now I need to get out and practice.

  19. Just fitted my Telrad. That thing is huge.

    1. AlexB67

      AlexB67

I know. I had to settle for the rigel in the end on my flextube. Not that the telrad wouldn't have fitted, but it would have been a whole lot more hassle. No doubt they are great things, but biiiig :D

  20. Just had my Telrad delivered for the C8, now lets see what all the fess is about with them.
