  1. Typical, near enough a full moon and bonfire night tonight and its predicted clear skies.

  2. With the winds tonight, I think it will be a spot of observing with the bins.

      Probably a good plan.

Yep thats the way! I decided against the dob on the way home whilst driving.

  3. No, missed out on another camera lens.

  4. In a way I'm glad the new batch of Star Adventurers have been delayed. With the poo poo weather we have been having I wouldn't have been able to use it anyway.

  5. I know there is still 2 and a half months left in the year but I'm beginning to think winter 2014 is going to be a write off.

Autumn has been a write off so far, praying for some cold crisp winter nights

Going by some clear skies I've seen at 5:30am, when it gets here it should be good! I hope....

  6. Bit of a boredom purchase, a flip mirror ready for some planetary imaging.

  7. Couldn't bring myself to sell it.

  8. I really do hope the Star Adventurers turn up soon. Feeling rather left out with all these wildefield images being taken plus I have a couple of new lenses to try out.

  9. Massive school boy error. Come all the way down to Exmoor for the dark skies, setup up the CG5-GT, went to plug in the power and find out I left the power lead at home.

Fair enough mate, I just know how annoying it is.

Have a lovely time down there, great part of the world.

I learnt to keep a trolly bag in effect for each scope, although one supply would do two scopes I bought 2 supplies. Means grab scope, grab bag (check bag) and everything should be in the bag but also everything is in one place for checking. Bit OTT but has made life easier.

Hope you get better skies than I did the other week. It kinda blew.

  10. Sorting out all my gear to take to Exmoor with me, hope it will be worth it.

I've been putting off doing it, I hate it that much.

Need to fit them tonight so I can fit the new underlay tomorrow evening as the new carpet is being fitted friday. :(

  12. It's looking highly unlikely I will have my Star Adventurer for my dark skies holiday next week. :

  13. Mmmm, thinking of turning to the darkside and trading in my C8 for an imaging scope but I know I will regret it. :(

      No you won't :)

Use the C8 for planetary imaging, and see what you think.

    3. hobsey

      hobsey

C8 doesn't fit on the Star Adventurer though. Plus I also have a 127mak that I can do planetary with.

  14. 'while stamping feet in a childish manner' I WANT MY STAR ADVENTURER MOUNT!

  15. Decided on a Canon 'L' lens for imaging instead of a scope.

Yeah, cheers for giving me the heads up about it. More expensive than the scope but will work out better for me in the long run.

Works well with the 1.4 and 2.0x extenders as well... and extension tubes for macro...

I've been waiting for one to come up on the used market but I think I may have to buy new as they very rarely come up.

The new Williams with field flattener built in looks good the ZS71 has a bit of blue bloat to deal with.

    4. hobsey

      hobsey

Yeah, I just don't have that sort of money though.

  17. Went to go and spend some money down at The Telescope House only to find that they are not open on Saturdays anymore. What is that all about?!

Isn't it just. Going to email them to see if its permanent. It maybe the terms to the lease on their new premises.

  18. In South Wales for a few days. Looking very clear tomorrow night, chance of frost.

  19. Looking forward to getting the C8 out over the weekend. She has been locked up since May.

I was having a play with the APT demo and couldn't get the hang of it so that's why I thought I would try EOS Utility. Glad I did.

      tingting44

APT really is a great program, just need to use it a couple of times to get your head around the settings and plans :)

Speak to Yoddha (on SGL) Ivo is the author - he was very helpful and the tool is far better than EOS utility once you have that initial learning curve complete.

  21. Get in! Won a 400mm camera lens on ebay ready for next weeks Redbull Air Race.
