I have added it to the list in my Tak thread ?

  3. 30 hrs no power from the ice storm, then the net collapsed for 6. I'm sure glad the views make up for some of the weather lol!

Excuse my ignorance Gerry but what is an ice storm exactly? I can guess to a point from it’s name but is it mainly a result from a sudden and sustained drop in temperature, or is it like a snow storm on steroids ?

    3. jetstream

      jetstream

Sometimes a storm with wet snow/sleet and rain will hit with dropping temps coating trees, power lines and everything else with ice. The hwy the other night was covered at first in slush/snow and then clear ice... the worst storms are with high winds which will snap trees, towers etc. We could only do 10-20mph on the way home with blowing snow cutting visibility to zero at times.

These storms can create beautiful effects ironically.

I compared to the LZ which is my most in focus loving eyepiece and it had - by eye- about 1/4" left, the ZZ about 3/8". I'm not sure if infinity is reached at 1500 yds in this scope though. Still the relation ship stays- the LZ focuses on the stars and the ZZ needs more out focus than the LZ, so it should focus.

Visual with an eye towards imaging. A feature of the Quark is supposed to be minimal sweets spots, but this one shows it easily and lots. It does provide fantastic views in the on band sections. I used it for 5 hrs today on and off, I love Ha that's for sure.

Around 50 deg, not a true ortho in the strictest sense, but it was a design consideration. Others say they work well on DSO- my 18mm does. Faint galaxies will tell the tale I think. I look forward to Jupiter in it too.

I'm comparing this little EP to of my 2 best performers,10E and LZ. My 18BCO barlowed at least equals my 8D on the planets... I like orthos though, some don't :)

Search Wiki using Latin ? I have enough trouble with English, and if I knew the Latin name I would have known of their existance. Do recognise the name Walleye but cannot recall them refered to as Zander. I see it is the offical fish of Saskatchewan. I'll stick to coho.

Not good, those are serious collisions... Our HWY is bad, a head on yesterday a few miles from here. I slow right down in this and find the Fusions low CG helps, along with the Blizzaks.

I hope those tides don't reach you there.

    4. jetstream

      jetstream

The eyes do leak in these temps lol! All the snow does help things in the cold though- one year with little snow the frost was driven 9 ft below the town roads... not good for waterlines.

You guys have worse things anyway...those crazy winds must wreak havok on everything.

    4. jetstream

      jetstream

      It is a concern!

There are a few things IMHO- I believe we cold adapt and once winter sets in it is a lot easier on us than when it first starts- I was very hot working outside in my sled suit and if you keep your head, feet and core warm it helps the hands. Not to say that you can't get frostbite...

Shaun, thanks for the concern ! :hippy2::grin:

ps I hope I didn't just unleash a torrent of one liners I can't keep with lol!
