  1. I've tried it on a few images now and I'm getting a much coarser grain with Star XTerminator compared to Starnett++. Images below, any input welcomed. I was using a 2600MC with an NBZ filter.
  2. No disputing this works, but when you scope is letting in light somewhere, it's not an option.
  3. I agree with the above, I use a 185mm focal length to PA using SharpCap, and it seems to be adequate for my imaging needs.
  4. Me and many many others make do with the cheap panel. Try with your t shirt on the scope first to diffuse the light from panel and rotate 180 degrees for the second half of the flats.
  5. AstroPixel Processor gives options to extract Ha and Oiii, as well as to do a colour version or mono version of both wavelengths at the same time. What way is everyone else approaching this?
  6. It's possible light is getting in somewhere. That would explain the gradient in my eyes. I've given up taking my flats during the day for that reason. I use the cheapo flats panel on ebay (A3 one I had to buy) and a piece of opaque acrylic over it (others use tracing paper, but I like the robustness of the acrylic and it's only a couple of quid. If you can try flats at night and post your image? I have used my laptop screen a few feet away to good effect too.
  7. That would be dust somewhere in the optical path. Perfectly normal and in essence part of the purpose of flats - to flatten out the image brightness. Here is a flat I took the other day, with the same camera, on a 7" newtonian. The darkness is even around the corners. Annoyingly the small dark mark in the top left corner is some dust on the sensor that was their from day 1 when I received the camera. It's under the glass so I cant blow it off.
  8. Fantastic. I think M45 is up there with one of my favourites, and when I start seeing lovely images on the forum I get excited for Winter 😋
  9. I'm using an NBZ filter with a colour camera. I process with APP. When I load my light, I have the option to choose the stacking algorithm. Depending on what I want to achieve, I choose a different algorithm in the '0' tab eg Ha-Oiii color, or Ha-Oiii extract Ha. If I create and save calibration masters with one algorithm chosen, can I load the same masters at a different time and chose another algorithm or are the masters bespoke to that particular algorithm? Hope that makes sense. Adam.
  10. I did the same recently via APP. It has a nuance when you sometime the file visible in the window isnt the one that gets deleted, it does tell you but I didnt read it properly. Anyhow somehow manage to deleted nearly every light from a whole night. I used RECUVA and it found them all, and I was able to recover them without hiccup. You could give it a go?
  11. Usually other people’s works best for me! My dad always had a saying “the job’s not done right until you draw blood” and so often it’s true.
  12. Totally agree, that is a fantastic version
  13. Sort of astro related… I was pulling a cable through a duct for electric for my new dome. Well then cable stuck I tugged and then it gave and I hit my knuckle off the nearby pebbledashed wall
  14. @Xiga I kept as much assembled as possible, leaving only one screw M54 joint onto focuser once the tilt was adjusted.
  15. It isn’t possible for me to access the screws with a screwdriver, only via an Allen key, so I had to change. Otherwise I just find them cheap looking 🙈
  16. Yes indeed imaging takes priority. My focuser rotates also, but I havent dared to touch it. It's supposed to be collimated but I'm taking no chances
  17. Such a beautiful area! I noticed you have posted in the chip tilt thread. Have you tested your equipment? The stars upper right above are a little mis shaped
  18. Nice image of the shark Bob Adam
  19. @teoria_del_big_bang that’s handy you got those screws. I checked my box and didn’t come across them. Regards the desiccant tube - I use mine but I live in a damp humid part of the world, you might not need it.
  20. Bought that guide too, still using photoshop. Going to make a concerted effort to get onto it this season
  21. Totally agree with this, I enjoy the first bits, then it becomes too subjective
  22. I think it’s quite incredible! I can’t see the signature on the phone.
