  1. I dunno if that’s my experience of the CMOS showing less than the CCD. In my 2-3 years with several KAF8300s then an overlap to CMOS using both for a while then now full CMOS, I honestly can’t think of a single advantage. Some things are equal, but I’ll never go out any buy another CCD.
  2. 100% agree with this. It doesn’t sound long but waiting 10s for a frame to download is frustrating when focusing or framing.
  3. Lol I’m not bothered. I’ve been using mine all year without issues.
  4. One of the best versions I’ve seen. The APM scope is excellent
  5. Because page 3 talks about oil leak on the 2600, calm down!
  6. It was mentioned last year on another thread. Isn’t a common issue obviously!
  7. Without the APP i would not have looked. I have push notifications enabled so it send me an alert on the phone.
  8. Alerted by the brilliant app from AuroraWatch UK, I got some photos behind the house around 10pm last night. IMG_4238.MP4
  9. Definitely! This was 20s exposure last night before 10pm. It looks like it picked up again last night and is still going.
  10. It hit well over 300 on the scale here, a brief hour of a lot of red with some green
  11. I got my new ultra narrowband filters for slower scopes, hoping to have more success with these ones! This is the third set of filters I've received, and consistent with the previous two sets, the packaging is partly missing in 2 out of the 3 filter boxes. Does it matter - not really, but the filters arent held securely during storage/shipping, and slightly disappointing QC. In the photo below, there is no padding above the Oiii or Sii filters.
  12. Sure you could just buy a second DDM 85 😂
  13. If you are using a fast scope, and have the tilt/spacing sorted, swapping cameras would be a nightmare IMHO! Two scopes is definitely the way to go regardless of CCD or CMOS
  14. Are you saying swap your cameras between sessions? I can’t think of anything more likely to create headaches to be honest!
  15. What about the information above that the 35 is not good?
  16. You are not wrong there! Here is a photo of my 300PDS beside the 250!
  17. I didn’t know that existed! I think the 200p might be a bit big for a beginner, but compared to my 250, I thinks it’s small 😇
  18. I was thinking an HEQ5 as a good starting point, then decide on an OTA to suit more specific requirements. I've never used the Nexstar range, it was just suggested elsewhere, but I dont think it's particularly great???
  19. Thanks for that honest review on the 35. I did think that the 150 would be more manageable. I started out myself a 6” on an LXD75.
  20. I’m trying to advise on a new set up for someone I know. Specifically wants goto and tracking. Good likelihood of being used for imaging > visual. Will be used at home so just needs to be sufficiently portable to move outdoors. Budget around £1500. In my head a 200PDS on an HEQ5 would fit the budget and brief? But is it too much bulk? I now have a 200 myself and I find it small and manageable compared to the 250. But I guess the EP can be high to use visually and an EQ mount is awkward for some. Ive no experience of the Nexstar 8SE, but can deduce it’s limitations for AP. However if imaging took a back foot, it’s going to a bit easier to use visually and easier to carry out? Then there is the new EQM-35 mount which might be adequate, paired with a nice ED80. Please feel free to add any suggestions that fit the brief. Many thanks
  21. Tongue in cheek short subs might work but not the 30 odd kg might be an issue. Another happy mesu (and CMOS) user here
  22. I sometimes feel like I wasted my money on a great mount as now all I need are 2 - 5 minute subs since moving to CMOS.
  23. It has been a few a months now and as i hoped the LZOS is in a totally different league to the SS.
  24. Very nice! Can’t beat a nice m45 like this
  25. The 571 is an interesting one! I spent the last 2-3 years using the KAF8300 sensors, and found very little wrong indeed! But the lure of new technology got the better of me and I moved to the 571.
