  1. Nice image there I like the coloured regions coming through in the spiral arms.
  2. Thanks Richard again! I was doing it right but there was no effect on the sharpening. I repeated with a lower radius and the sharpening is enhanced. I guess it varies with kit and image quality etc?
  3. I have the same camera and I use APT to control the temp drop. I have so far not seen this frosting issue, and am not aware of any option to control the speed of cooling or warming. However I dont image immediately, since the cameras are cooling whilst I'm plate solving or focusing or setting up guiding.
  4. The diagonal grain looks like what I get on my DSLR. Did you dither exposures?
  5. http://www.rc-astro.com/resources/GradientXTerminator/download.php Free 30 day trial. I bought it as I use it quite a bit, but it is fully functional for 30 days without limitations.
  6. Hi Richard, I'm struggling with this bit: Does this look right up to that point?
  7. Hi Simmo The detail is great, even on the little galaxy on top right, but the background is really red. I just ran it through Gradient Xterminator to balance the colour of the background, and dropped the levels down to a lower level. I'm like you though, looking for help with LRGB imaging
  8. I've attached my data from Sat night, on NGC 4565. If anyone wants to have a go I would be most grateful. The fits files have been calibrated and registered. The red focus isnt the best, but I think it's usable. There is about 10 hours in total, taken with mono CCDs, on ED80s in 300s exposures. TIA Adam. 9. Thanks Richard. I’m going to try this. I do use high pass filter but not in this fashion. This sounds great.
  10. It does help. I’ll have a look at those Topaz Labs filters ?
  11. @Xiga I wanted to sharpen the dust lanes but didn’t know how. What would you suggest (if you have time)?
  12. Wow ? you never fail to impress with your images. Thanks for sharing ????
  13. I like it Paul. There is a lot of detail. I agree about the wife comment. They put up with a lot and it’s nice to get some good feedback from them. Lol
  14. Hi Ciaran, I always really appreciate it when you take time to provide your feedback, so thank you again ? I don’t think I really know what I’m at tbh lol Im using 2x mono cameras so I can’t blame APP for losing colour in this case. It’s probably how I added the lum. Although I did it incrementally. Red wasn’t focus so good, blue and green were much tighter. I tried to reduce star size in the red channel but I feel like I’m out of my depth.
  15. Thanks Adrian! It’s actually correct! 5 hours of Lum and 5 1/4 hours of colour. Dual rig ?
  16. The beautiful Needle Galaxy, 50 million light years away! I'm still getting to grips with RGB imaging, and not entirely convinced it's for me yet. Here is my image of NGC 4565 purely from last night. I devoted pretty much the entire night to single object, getting up at 12:30am to do a meridian flip and assess focus of RGB filters. LUM = 18000s RED = 7200s GREEN = 5400s BLUE = 6300s Stars look bigger than I would have liked, and the dust isnt as well resolved as I had imagined. Thanks, any comments would be very welcome. Adam.
  17. I decided to finally approach my neighbours about light pollution. I made up a small ‘leaflet’ around Earth Hour and used this as an opportunity to bring up the subject. It only took about 2 years to get around to it.
  18. Nice one bob. Great colours.
  19. At about 10pm I switched to the scope, and had a mare getting all running again. Guiding was excellent last night, with total RMS of 0.9, and then the computer crashed about 6 subs after I left it, shame as I had some lovely subs of M101. As for the F stop - I couldnt get focus, then ended up just stopping down to F8, I do have some at F2.8 F4 F5.6 that I can look at later. It was late last night when I wrapped up and am away doing an outreach even tonight at a local school.
  20. My new lens arrived yesterday, and had some clear skies last night! A few high clouds but Im very happy with this. It was 3 x 150s at ISO400 F8. I am very new to widefield imaging, and it certainly seems harder than using the telescope due to the smaller scale of everything. This is a reduced size but uncropped stack of three subs on a full frame sensor.
  21. Wow 28 hours! Beautiful image as a result
  22. Thanks! Clearish night too for first light. Orion and meteor
