  1. I'm tying to see in the background ... where do they store all the clouds !
  2. That's really sad news, pass our condolences on to his wife please.
  3. Yep, pretty conclusive ! Hadn't seen that .
  4. I do like the look of it ... It just seems so much like an April Fool though ! 1st April launch date and it's Wind up
  5. Sounds sensible, I guess half a dither is better than no dither .
  6. Slightly off topic but will dithering only in RA be of any benefit ?
  7. Good to see a fellow Star adventurer mini here ! Most are the bigger Star Adventurer owners.
  8. Black thing is polar scope illuminator, silver thing is a autoguider. I think ...
  9. Nice, if you weigh the tripod down with something it won't move so easily ... In theory !
  10. Took advantage of the clear ish spell tonight to try the 'non wedge' polar alignment. I'm now a member of the star adventurer mini imaging club. I used f8 at 400 ISO to see how long I could go without trailing. Managed 300 seconds @ 24 mm
  11. Thanks Steve, I'll use the wedge mostly but I'm going to La Palma so I'm going to try fitting the Star adventurer in my camera bag.
  12. Thanks Dave, I've had it set up with the wedge and with just the tripod head and both feel pretty solid ... I little ding to the camera lens rocks a bit for about half a second on either setup.
  13. What's the concensus on polar alignment with just the tripod head ? It's a 3 way head Manfrotto 460MG 3-Way so very rigid and smooth, might give it a bash next clear night .
  14. It's here ... And the sky is blue ! Lovely bit of kit , just trying to suss the polar scope illuminator . It's almost light enough to fit straight on my tripod head and dispense with the wedge (for holiday travel) but just a wee bit wobbly.
  15. I have a D5300 I'd you want a dark ? Tell me what ISO and exposure you want and 'rough' temperature.
  16. Star adventurer mini expected on Monday I'm hoping that buying while cloudy won't cause any more cloud !
  17. Thanks, Telescope house were cheaper and less delivery charge too .
  18. Thanks chaps, Telescope house had one in stock, turning up on Tuesday.
  19. Great thread , am I allowed here as I've just ordered a SAM
  20. Cheers Victor, I've done that just a bit impatient I've ordered the mount though !
  21. Any of you peeps know where I can get a AP-R3N (N3) Its hopefully the cable for the sam to a Nikon D5300 ? FLO say, unavailable. Cheers
