  1. Blazing hot down here but an extremely inactive sun up there

  2. Jusr received the Hersche Wedge :-) But how do I check if the ND3 filter is included? When I look throuh the diagonals holes there's a blue tinted glass inside. Is that the filter?

  3. It's so hot today. 40ºC and climbing. I deliciously melted while viewing the sun today. The tripod was impossible to carrying back indoors without my winter glooves on.

Yup mid020s here Rob - pretty nippy by comparison to your neck of the woods! I have two bottles of Pinot Grigio delle Venezie in the Fridge to cool me down later! Was looking forward to a good night at the scope, but looking a wee bit hazy out there now... .

      Mid 20s that should say!

  4. Got back this Monday morning from the best dark skies I have ever seen. Ever! Still in a state of shock. The days were fabulous as well, up in the mountains, clear skies, running rivers and forests.

Goodo, at last eh. It is blowing a gale here and the rain is at about 40' to the ground, feels like November.

  8. My girlfriend isn't really one for space things, but she was suitably impressed with Hadfield's Space Oddity. She's singing along in that thick English accent only the Spanish know how to do. I'm rather impressed by her own rendition.

We'll have to work something out! There's been about 36 days of clear skies, not all them great but suffice. Today is bright blue and hot.

  19. On and of marathon today. Morning with Sun, early evening with Jupiter', late evening/morning with Moon and Orion. Outstanding day.

Thanks, Mike. I'm not too sure what to do this time round. I was thinking of doing on entry on log-book keeping?

      Qualia

Good on ya. The sun really is quite active today.

  21. Hope you all pass a peaceful and loving New Year! See you next year, SGLers.

  22. Been lucky this month. 22 days of solar sketching. However, same can't be said for the evenings. Too much cloud recently.

  23. The evenings have been too cloudy for stargazing but the morning has been spectacular with the Sun.

    1. David Smith

      David Smith

I love a good sunrise. Was spectacular on the way to work, with a thick frost on everything and the sky was just beautiful.

  24. Spetacular Evening.

Hope you guys get some decent weather this weekend. Here it's just getting to cold, so I'll probably do roof top gazing. I just don't have the clothes for sub-zero temperatures in the desert.

    3. nightfisher

      nightfisher

Her in the UK we think of spain for being hot, but i bet the dessert is a cold place on a winters night

    4. Qualia

      Qualia

Ay, it's true, folk do think it's hot all year here. I think Spain is the second most mountainous country in Europe, so temps can be very, very low.

  25. After a week of storms at last not a cloud in sight, a brisk -2 C, slight wind...perfect night? No, the seeing was awful. Packed up and came home :-(

    1. crashtestdummy

      crashtestdummy

Ditto fella, rubbish transparency and the moon was a pain.

    2. Marki

      Marki

Shame Qualia - would have thought the cold desert skies were just ideal...?

    3. Qualia

      Qualia

Yeah, it is wierd, but even the forecast page said seeing would be bad and I couldn't work out why this would be so. I think it may have had something to do with the winds. Anyway, tonight was a lot better, but soooo cold. Desert-arid lands really do get chilly. Anyway, a fun, if short evening was had around Lyra.
