    There are more unsavoury people out about when it's light at night so that and the glare frightens the clouds off, they prefer to come along when it's dark, unlike burglars who'd prefer to see without having to use a torch.

    Shame the part-night lighting people didn't change the clocks, they're going off at 1am now instead of 12.

      My lot are such that I can tell if I am late going to bed, the lights outside are all off at very close to midnight, say plus or minus 5 minutes. Usually about 2 or 3 minutes after midnight. If I am a bit late then I often take a look outside as it is fairly dark. Last year they "drifted" and were going off at 11:40ish, so used to it being midnight I actually checked the clocks.

      just read up on part-night lighting, how cool is that! is it a big difference for imaging from when the lights were on?

      They've tried to butter us up with free food and drink. Stuck on here all night now, at least we've docked so can get off in the morning. -:)

    Wonderful report Alan. Great reading that you had such a great view of Jupiter with a large Dob but I guess your seeing is usually better than here. Also great to read your report on doubles as well as I know you're very experienced in this field. I'm a great fan of the Nexus as well. You can get it direct from Serge in Oz as well if your postal service can cope.

      It has been sent, it must have been separated, it's just not out for delivery according to the tracking. It arrived at the Uk destination last night.

      All packages arrived at North Essex parcel force depot last night. 2 on vehicle ready for delivery, but just realised it'll be Monday if a Saturday delivery wasn't paid for? Ho Hum that's disappointing, I was getting all excited for a while.

    Thanks, I only wondered because I was thinking about getting one at one time. If I remember correctly they send them out with the PV etc on them which purported to be very good so I was curious to hear what they're like from someone who has one. But happy to wait till you update the thread.

    Thanks for posting, glad you have a large dob you like. I'm sure many people looking at these will appreciate your feedback. Hopefully HO will learn from your feedback and iron out some of the snags. Is it a sandwich mirror?

    You must be very chuffed. Out of interest how much do you you reckon it cost you, just curious to compare with the manufactured ones. Ps, I should add I realise cost might not be the main motivation as I'm sure you thoroughly enjoyed making it.
