Iβll very shortly be doing a little project to convert an EQ5 Berlebach into an EQ6 for a fraction of the price of a new Berlebach top. Stay tuned. π

To hold the whole bottom part on? Maybe???

Looks like the whole bottom of the mount is one piece so doesn't look as simple as changing the boss. Might have to be a whole new bottom piece. π€

This saddle. https://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/altair-starwave-mini-vixen-style-clamp-for-standard-tripods.html And this dovetail. https://www.rothervalleyoptics.co.uk/30A058B.html Just bolted onto the Geoptik 80mm dovetail bar with two bolts and then clamped into the stock saddle. Had to replace the stock knob with a bolt for clearance.

Or get this tripod. Same as the EQ5 one but with a 3/8 fitting. https://www.firstlightoptics.com/alt-azimuth/sky-watcher-38-stainless-steel-tripod.html -
Just taking another look at that pic and wondering what diameter is that boss on the bottom. Will it fit into an EQ6 tripod top? π€

Thanks for that. ππ»ππ»ππ» Stardard EQ6 fitment then.

One thing I would like to know is the base of the mount completely flat or is it like the bottom of an EQ6 moint. Sounds like it might be as otherwise an M10 option would require an EQ5 shaped bottom . BTW Steve afer a successful weekend of selling astro bits the cash for the AZ100 and options is sitting in my hobby bank account. π

Iβve flocked a number of scopes and found by using a liner you can pretty well guarantee a perfect job. The smaller diameter the OTA the harder it is to do a neat job. Youβll find out when you start to apply the flocking.

AZGTi problems...
johninderby replied to Greymouser's topic in Getting Started Equipment Help and Advice
On my pillar the top comes off easily when the screws are unscrewed. Donβt see how it could jam. π€ -
Better to get some 600micron acetate sheet to make a liner with. Then apply the flocking to the acetate shhet and slde into the tube. Makes for a very neat wrinkle free job particularily on a small OTA. ππ» Pics of 10β dob with acetate liner cut to fit and then the finished job.

Iβve thpught about ordering this book myself but canβt decide if itβs worth it. π€ Will wait to see your review or just opinion of it.

If buying a scope on eBay I would want to see if it is actually as described and collect the scope then you can cancel the sale if itβs not as described. Buying from Astrobuysell or SGL is so much safer as no one minds letting you look before ypu buy or even pop over and have a look through the scope first.

Here you go. Mine are the 25mm length ones, which they are out of stock of, but the 20mm should be OK. Much , much easier to tighten . https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Black-Stainless-Steel-Knurled-Thumb-Screw-Hand-Grip-Knob-Bolts-M6-High-Type/223166471099?var=521973666650&hash=item33f5c21bbb:m:mTMfK-wmJ3Wxap2o-7--gEQ
