  1. As to the meaning Stella is pretty simple but quite a few different meanings for Mira. STELLA Latin: star or star shaped MIRA Latin: wonder & wonderful Slavic: peace Albanian: goodness or kindness Samskrit: ocean, sea, limit or boundary
  2. Hmmmmmm Would look rather nice on an AZ100 but nooooo must resist. 😬
  3. Not the postie but hand delivered. 🙂 Kendrick solar filter to fit the 8” Classical Cassegrain with wooden strorage box. 👍🏻
  4. Great place for knobs and many other usefull bits. http://www.wdsltd.co.uk/categories/65/hand-knobs-thumb-screws/157/star-knobs/ Stainless tri lobe knobs from WDS on my Altair saddle.
  5. Get a couple of large plastic trays to empty the parts into. Just need to open the bags for each stage of the build. Helps keep things a bit organised and stops parts from being lost. Can be a bit tricky to identify some of the parts until you get used to them and yes it is inevitable that you will make some mistakes as you go which only become evident when you get to the next step and something doesn’t fit properly. You will enjoy it though once you get going. 👍🏻
  6. Not the cheapest but Areoshel 33 Airframe Grease is what Rowan Astronomy recommends for the AZ100 mount. Super low wear and high corrosion resistance. It’s usually used on aircraft components where only the best will do. Recommended by Boeing apparently. 😁
  7. Not much today. Just some acetone which is essential when printing ABS.
  8. The stock scope was very good actually but with the OO mirrors it was exceptional. Really noticed the difference. Wish I had never sold it. A mistake I still regret. 🙁 I have seriously thought about picking up a cheap 150PL and fitting OO 1/10pv mirrors.
  9. The Concentre is one of those bits of kit that once used you can’t go back to a Cheshire.for setting up a secondary. Easy enough to fit the OO mirrors but used an OO 9 point mirror cell which fitted to the existing mounting ring on the scope. You would have to remove the old secondary miiror from its mount but easier just ti buy a new seconday mount. I picked up the mirrors second hand on Astrobuysell.
  10. I’ve found star tests are so dependant on good seeing. For collimating a newt I start out with setting up the secondary with a Concentre. Found a Cheshire gets you somewhere near but not spot on. Then use a laser collimator which unless it’s a good one usualy needs colimating itself. https://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p5507_TS-Optics-Concenter-1-25--Collimation-Eyepiece-for-Newtonian-Telescopes.html Here’s a 150pl that I had but upgraded with OO 1/10pv mirrors. Wish I had kept it. 🙁
  11. Have a read of this guide. Should help explain things. http://www.astrophoto.fr/collim.html
  12. Pretty well all upgrade focuser can be rotated. If buying a new focuser would recommend the Baader Steeltrack.
  13. Bresser 10” dob OTA on a TS-AZ5 mount. Worked surprising well but prefer the dob mount.
  14. Had an adapter made by Telescope Express to fit my new 1.25” Crayford to the SCT thread on my Bresser 127 mak. Bit expensive but since I bought the focuser from them it was easier to have them do it and it is a perfect fit.
  15. The Bresser has a really nice rack & pinion focuser and you can rotate the focuser to adjust the angle of the knobs.I have the extension piece fitted for visual. With a camera you need more infocus so wouldn’t use the extension.
  16. One of the great all time Alt-Az mounts.. 👍🏻
  17. Think this applies. 😁😁😁 https://fractalfoundation.org/resources/what-is-chaos-theory/
  18. Just out of curiousity went and weighed the Bresser 10” base and it’s 11.5kg including the twin wheel castors I’ve added. The OO 10” base is 12kg. 🤔
  19. I just put a handle near the top. Find it easier to use than a knob as you can just rest your hand on it rather than hold it.
  20. Yes they are ££££ The Bresser base is a big improvement over the Skywatcher and does work very well. Pity Skywatcher doesn’t upgrade their bases but I suppose they are “cost effective” 🙂
  21. OO dob bases https://www.orionoptics.co.uk/MOUNTS/dobsonianmount.html I really like the OO dob bases but they aren’t cheap. Prices shown are without VAT.
  22. We are always happy to help you spend more money. 😁🤣
