  1. Nice sharp image and the colours really make it stand out. Steve
  2. That's not good is it? Where did you get the refurbished DC-201 from and, more importantly, can you return it. Steve

  7. Hi and a very warm welcome to the Lounge Steve
  8. My QHY8 Pro had horrendous issues with frosting. I purchased an updated front end with updated 3mm glass and the addition of the desiccant tube and I rarely have dewing issues & I live next to a lake. Steve
  9. I purchased another DC-201 and 9 pin cable after I had issues with my QHY8 pro. It eventually had to be repaired at QHY. Hopefully, sealing the threads should do the trick. Steve
  10. hi and a very warm welcome to the Lounge :)) Steve
  11. Hi and a very warm welcome to the Lounge Steve
  12. Have you swapped the DC-201 to QHY9 power leads, to see it's not the cable that's at fault.
  13. Hi Adam, What temp did you cool down to? Did you use the hairdryer & sealed the threads. Steve
  14. Beautifully captured processed & framed. Excellent first light Steve
  15. Any update on the present state of affairs at the IKI Observatory? Steve
  16. After completing a successful job of completing the Rowan mod, all you should hear is the whine of the servo motors and any additional noises are a fault somewhere. Undo the clutches and see if the RA & Dec axis are free and moving smoothly. If not, look at this strip down & rebuild from Astrobaby. If your Ra & Dec are OK, remove the motor board and have a look to see that the belts are aligned & the timing pulley are not rubbing on the housing. I had to remove a rough segment of my housing to allow the timing pulley to rotate freely. Steve
  17. Hi Simon and a very warm welcome to the Lounge Steve
  18. Hi Slingshot and a very warm welcome to the Lounge Steve
  19. Hi Ed and a very warm welcome to the Lounge. From another retired old timer Steve
  20. Hi Nigella, Sorry for not contacting you regards automating your dome as I wanted to make sure my shutter design is working consistently. I've had some teething problems that have now been resolved. If you want to move your dome using a drivebelt you will need at least T10 20mm wide drivebelt and the motor will need to be sprung loaded onto the dome flange to iron out any discrepancies in the dome circumference. I know presently you are not going down the computer controlled route but have a look at this DIY dome automation set-up Steve
  21. That looks really pristine, hopefully it should eliminate the banding issue. When you assemble the QHY9 use a hairdryer to warm up the inside of the chamber to eliminate any moisture and put a little grease or Vaseline on the cover threads to create a moisture barrier. Steve
  22. The same here Adam, could not open the image. some sort of parsing issue. If you feel confident, try opening the QHY9 and see if it's a moisture issue or wait for the replay from QHY. Steve
  23. Hi Adam, Your image shows there is an issue with your QHY9. Contact QHY and report the issue via their Ticket System, giving as much information, images etc... If it does need repair contact Bern @Modern Astronomy I would not advise sending the camera to QHY yourself. Steve
  24. There has been an ongoing issue in SGPro that has been documented in the SGPro forum regarding banding on QHY cameras. This affects final images as well as frame & focus and whether it's been resolved in the latest ver. 3.1.0.544 I don't know as I'm not imaging with my QHY8 Pro presently. Steve
