M37 in Auriga

Been out tonight having a play with my Toucam at prime focus

through the 130mm F5 reflector.

This one is M37 in Auriga and was pleased to have got some different star

colours.

About 15 frames of 20 seconds each in Registax

Its good to see a shot with the ToUCam, I am thinking of getting mine modded shortly. What mount/scope was that taken with?

It was a Skywatcher 130P F5 reflector on an EQ5 mount

with RA drive

Thanks for the info. I have the same driven mount but an 8" reflector. I think you have made my mind up to get it modded! Have you got any other shots from the same setup?

Realistically about 45 seconds.

It's limited by the tracking of the EQ5 which is not great but if

you take enough images, you can salvage a useful amount for stacking.

The camera itself is good for longer but there is a point where noise and amp glow

cause problems

Still worth it though

lovely one Phil , yes nice to see a few coloured stars as well , must try a few clusters myself soon , yes Amp glow , remember that well , the curse of some web cams , as you say ok till about 40 secs then the big glow starts to come in , the Atik2HS i had had an Amp on /off . so was lucky there seemed to work great,

Well done on that one phil. Easy to saturate the stars but you have captured the colour very nicely

The camera is modified to take long exposure shots for imaging dimmer deep sky objects.

The unmodded camera is fine as it is for moon and planet shots as they are much brighter objects.
