Pink Floyd, one time cosmic rock band, did a number of ballads with astronomical associations - Astronime Domine, Set the Controls for the Heart of the Sun, Cirrus Minor, Interstellar Overdrive, Point me at the Sky, Dark Side of the Moon, The Great Gig in the Sky.

HehHehHheh!! Yeah, but when I think back to those days, I remember how Absolutely brilliant they were.

Of course, everybody has their own superb musical era.

Lets face it, a world without music is a dead one.

Then there was UFO (the band).

Not forgetting Hawkwind, setting of as the Hawklords from Moorcock's novels, on the LP 'In Search of Space', with 'Master of the Universe' and 'Silver Machine', followed by 'Doremi Faso Latido', a series of space chants:

Do - Mars - red

Re - Sun - orange

Mi - Mercury - yellow

Fa - Saturn - green

So - Jupiter - blue

La - Venus - Indigo

Ti - Moon - violet

These themes were elaborated upon in 'Space Ritual' with 'Earth Calling', 'Space Is Deep', etc.

King Crimson's 'Islands' featured the Trifid nebula on the LP cover.

Artie Shaw's 1956 Album 'Moonglow', featuring the title track, as well as 'Star Dust', and appropriate for those without an observatory negotiating a large Newtonian on an equatorial mount 'Dancing in the Dark' (for some a 'Nightmare', another track on the same LP).

(These tracks predate 1956, as Shaw stopped composing and playing in 1954 to concentrate on writing)
