Hi, Star Struck 97 here.

My name is Reece. I am 12 years old. I have just today bought my own 8" solid tube dobsonian with my own money. I have two 1.25" eyepieces, one is 10mm, the other is 25mm. I also have a 2" eyepiece adaptor, but no 2" eyepieces yet. My parents are dark knight and dobserver.

:)

I am looking forward to long, dark nights and good veiwing.

By the way, if any of you live in wiltshire, feel free to cyber-throttle me for bringing clouds to the area!

Look forward to adding my knowledge to the bank,

Reece

Hi Reece and welcome to the forum. I'm very glad you chose to save up your money for your scope and not waste it on plastic toys and computer games - well done you!

I am looking forward to getting out there with you. It will be great to have your company and enthusiasm on these cold nights.

Mum :)

Yeah. Too much gaming fries your brain! (I speak from experience...)

Anyway you did the right thing buying a scope. This is a great hobby! Besides being fun you get to learn lots of science related stuff, which will probably help you later on in life (ie: getting a college degree and a well paid job!). But at 12 thats something you shouldn't worry about. :)

You're very fortunate to have 2 astronomy "gurus" at home, I had to wait till I got a job to start on astronomy, although I had an interest in it since about your age.

Welcome and I hope you get lots of clear nights to observe!
